With so few episodes left you'd think they'll have to really move things along with each episode.
Nope.
A really solid job of putting everyone in their starting positions, but no forward movement yet.
As much as Arya cutting Walder's throat at the end of last season was satisfying, saving it as a surprise to start this season would have been a catapult into the seventh season. As it is, the end of the Red Reception was obvious as soon as it started. And not a big fan of stunt casting with Ed Sheeran.
Favorite moment "No need to seize the last word Lord Balish. I'll assume it was something clever."!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what role the Brotherhood Without Banners has to play in all this. I've always been intrigued by Beric Dondarrion ever since it was revealed that he was essentially immortal. He has a small kinship with others who refuse to die like Jon Snow, Benjin Stark, and even Daenerys. That's a select few who have "died" and are still around, so I'm betting there's something similar between all of them that has yet to be revealed.
Also, good to see Jorah Mormont is still kicking around in Oldtown. I was worried that greyscale had consumed him already.

That was amazing. -Also was that Jorah the Explorer in the cell at the Citidal? -Loving Jon's leadership -Little Lady Bear Island continues to be the biggest badass ever

Haven't they been doing that, this episode and last? Besides that there are 12 episodes left that a minimum 12 hours. Plus many episodes are rumoured to go as long as 90 minutes, feature length in time. We've got a lot of minutes left to use up, the show is winding down but plenty of story to tell.

Yeah we're already getting 8 hours this season. Could be 8-10 hours next season, despite having fewer episodes.
Even if it isn't quite that much it doesn't seem far fetched at all for them to wrap this thing up nicely with 15 or so hours total.

Pretty sure it was Jorah in the cell at the Citadel. They kept showing that scaling on his hand in the previous season. Looks like it's gone further.
I didn't realize there were episodes as long as 90 minutes. I was looking at the number of episodes each being about 50-55 minutes. I figured this one was an hour because it was the season premiere. I suppose there's enough time to get everything wrapped up.

episodes could be getting much longer as the show heads to its conclusion. While the number of episodes has shrunk, with seven slated for the upcoming season and just six for the yet-to-be-produced final batch, Season 8, the length will likely move toward feature range of 80-plus minutes next season, according to sound designed Paula Fairfield. She said Season 7 episodes will be their customary hour-long duration, but the finale of Season 7 clocks in at 82 minutes. In Season 8, the episode could be in the 80-plus-minute range of a feature film, as series like Sherlock and Black Mirror have done.
