Cripes I watched his interview and the guy doesn't even understand that the bill will end up costing his own state over $3 billion. He didn't read it, he didn't understand it and he still voted for it. This is a vote based on ideology alone.

This is why Ryan and company wanted this passed before CBO. Lets keep those pesky facts of out decision making. The US has move completely away from democracy and empiricism and vote based on kleptocratic donations and knee jerk reactions.

This is at the top of the list of things about the American system that leaves me bewildered. The cynicism and dishonesty and the deliberate nature of the actions to needed obstruct democracy in this way is mind bottling.

It seems like such a no brainer to hand the boundaries tasks a non-partisan group. The way it's set up currently absolutely encourages this kind of idiotic, partisan behaviour. It's because of this kind of stuff that most European's, and other democracies, roll their collective eyes when a US politician, of any stripe, stands up and expounds about America as the finest example of democracy on the planet.

Another egregious recent example, again from good old red state North Carolina, was when the outgoing Republican Governor, and his GOP cronies, essentially stripped the incoming Democrat Governor of much ability to govern and specifically restricted powers related to elections boards. I can't recall a better example where political power has been used in such a cynical way.

Warren is younger than both Biden and Sanders. Biden and Sanders will be into their 80s by the time they are into their presidency... probably little chance of a second term in either case from age related issues if either become president.

Newsom/Harris 2020. Gavin Newsom is a very charismatic and strong speaker. Has a good head on his shoulders and has forwarded some very progressive policy. Kamala Harris is everything you want in a VP candidate. Smart and checks a ton of boxes. Nice blend of policy positions with that of Newsom. Only problem is they are both from California. Might be better off with Kirsten Gillibrand from New York, but she might not check enough boxes for the base and presents a less than ethnically diverse ticket.

That's still the issue though. A heck of a lot of middle America are sick and tired of California and New York telling them what to do and don't identify with those states. I really think the Democrats need some dynamic voice from somewhere else.
