I think the Safeway ones don't take the fee if you take the money on a gift card.

I believe this option was taken out a while ago. I tried to do it a year ago and wasn't paying attention and after pouring all my coins in the machine I realized there wasn't an option for a gift card and I had to pay the fee. This was at the Safeway in 130th.

No kidding, I asked them why and they said they were losing money on the machines. Never mind customers loved them, I guess making billions in profit wasn't enough.

BMO go rid of them also, as the Kensignton branch had one. Which sucks as I loved them too. The rep at BMO mentioned no branches will have them. This was last summer or so when I was told this.

A few months ago, I went to the BMO Aspen Landing branch and the coin counter machine was gone. There is a pending class-action lawsuit against TD for poor accuracy in their machines and as a result BMO pulled theirs out. I going to go back to rolling my change. Tired of giving away 11.9% at Safeway.

Yeah they were pulled for the accuracy issue. Don't know how big of an issue it was but I would have been good with a 1% loss if it meant I could still go to the bank and dump chain into those machines.

I have thought of going to the grocery store self check out and just using a bucket of coins to pay. Obviously probably have to be closer to closing so you aren't that person taking forever at the till. I mean you can drop a bunch of change there already, I just don't know if there is a limit to how much change you can play with.

I find that with how completely paying by debit card has taken over my personal finances, I'm accumulating change at a much slower rate. Thinking I might just bite the bullet on the 12% ones at Safeway just to get it all out of the house. I probably accumulate less than a buck or two of change a month nowadays.

Best way to get rid of change is to leave it laying around where my wife can see it

Just curious, what are you all paying for with cash that you end up with a bunch of change?
