I said the Flames wouldn't make up the nine points to catch the Oilers. I was wrong.

Anticlimactic.

Mark Spector‏ @SportsnetSpec
If you'd have asked Gulutzan and his players that night, they wouldn't have thought they'd make up that gap either. Flames were low.

That. Is. Brutal.

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

The difference is that Gulutzan DIDN'T say that. Spector DID.

Own up to it, Mark!

Oh FFS Spector! How long have you been following hockey? You swallowed the Oilerade, you've been guzzling it forever.

You're the kind of person that Cults love, the eternally gullible. Someone who has believed for so long that they cant even consider the concept of being wrong.

Well, at least these ones are just jumping off the roof. I hear the fans at Rogers Arena are catching fire and looting the nearby shops.

this is what happens when writers become fans ... you say things like ...

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/o...attle-alberta/

Quote:
Edmonton officially passed Calgary Saturday night, in both the macro and micro sense of the word.

The Oilers moved nine points ahead of the Flames in the standings and will not be caught by their rivals this season. In the bigger picture, Edmonton is where Calgary was supposed to be by now, well on their way to being a top-10 National Hockey League team with an long and bright future.

Calgary has been the better franchise for many years. They are not anymore, and are firmly in the chase position from this point forward.
and ...

Quote:
The Flames are stalled for now, trying to figure out how to be any good in front of sub-par goaltending, wondering if leaders like Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan are the real deal, truly able to carry this team beyond its current state.
or ...

Quote:
Calgary’s a wild card team at best now, while the Oilers are well in contention for the Pacific Division lead.

It’s a big change in Alberta, and it won’t be changing back soon.
The Flames coach and GM weren't happy that night, but they certainly weren't calling the season over, questioning their young core, or suggesting the balance of power in Alberta had changed forever more.

Love how the article is closed for comments now.

Mark Spector continues to look like a complete idiot, I'm convinced that my mother knows more about hockey then Spector does.

Kudos to the Flames. I didn't think they had a run like this in them when they were floundering so badly awhile back. Definitely tightened the noose around Anaheim and Edmonton. Will make for an interesting stretch drive.

Meanwhile, a guy like George Johnson can't find work with a reputable paper.
