Auston Matthews is a complete 200 ft player at 19. Terrific offensively, defensively, and amazing possession player.

Remember last season where people kissed Jack Eichel's butt? The Leafs 3rd highest scoring rookie forward(Nylander) is on pace to statistically beat Eichel's rookie numbers from last season. A big reason Toronto has far surpassed Buffalo in the rebuild.

But continue to think Matthews is not a true franchise changer. The guy impacts every aspect of the game. Patrick Laine has an amazing shot and, well that's it.

Is anyone suggesting Matthews is not good?

I said in the summer Brian Elliott was a product of Ken Hitchcock and would be terrible. I said 2 summers ago on this board Dougie Hamilton was a steal and will be a true #1 D-Man. My track record with predictions is very good on here.

Matthews is a franchise changer because Toronto is a garbage franchise. That's not saying he isn't good, but perspective is required.

Just to add, Matthews now leads the ENTIRE NHL in ES goals. More than Crosby. And you took offense to me saying he's a franchise changer and thought I was overrating him.
