Word is both Sandra Jansen and Donna Kennedy-Glans have dropped out of the PCAA leadership race. I am not able to post the letter from Jansen, but it's scathing, and regardless of your political stripe, disappointing.

I've never wanted anything more in the last 2 minutes than to read that letter.

Jansen is alleging she was harassed out of the race:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...-out-1.3842548
Her accusations about Kenney's team's actions might be worth checking into, but yeah, I don't have a ton of sympathy for her failure to understand the realities of social media.

Sheesh, wow.
So sounds like the PC party isn't really interested in being electable.

Did either of the dropped candidates pay their $30k deposit?
The allegations should be investigated but it's also plausible they simply couldn't raise the money which is due this Thursday.
Edit: Byron Nelson paid his deposit today. I was in undergrad with him, solid guy, he deserves some attention.

Going by your own link, it sounds like it was more than "social media".
If the Conservative Party can't drum out these nuts and run a centrist or even a reasonable conservative who isn't preoccupied with abortion or gay teenagers having a club at school, we could end up with the NDP again, and even my liberal self doesn't want that.

Has she realized that she can't beat Kenney, so she is going to try and get public sympathy on harassment claims.
I don't condone harassment, but let's please remember these are just claims right now.

Has social media emboldened deplorables everwhere?
Some dudes on the weekend showed up a carbon tax protest in a Red Deer with a Confederate Flag.

Maybe. But Jansen is about as establishment/corporate as you can get. Hard to imagine she would have money problems this early in the race.

It's just made them more visible. 15 years ago only the people at that carbon tax protest would have been aware of the dudes with a Confederate flag. Now we all know about it.

Yeah I agree, it's difficult to say by one version that this is definitely what happened. It's disconcerting that both women are out on the same day though.

She knew she wasn't going to win so she decided to try and burn down the house on the way out.
Is it possible that this stuff happened? I'd like her to show the damaged ballots or some kind of proof.

30 year loyal party member decides to throw temper tantrum and destroy the party in the middle of running in the leadership race?
Or is it more likely she might be, oh I don't know, telling the truth?

What's the end game here then? Like what master plan is there for this to somehow gain her something?
And really, how shocking is it that people wrote insults on her nomination papers? I am not shocked by this at all, as we all know there is some bad blood between these groups.
