I just don't like the idea of having Burke and the family involved. I feel like that could be a recipe for disaster.
The fact that both parties are involved can't be good.

There is no avoiding have Burke involved, not sure I understand why this would be a recipe for disaster

A lot of over analysis over every little point, which itself in this case, is all speculation of a single line from Sportsnet.
Regardless, family was involved when Conroy got him to sign, family should be part of it now. It's a life changing decision and the Flames want to handle this the right away.
Also, getting them all in the same room separates a little bit better what is agent-speak vs the actual wishes of the Gaudreaus. Gross is under pressure from other agents and the PA to get the most for his clients and JG is under pressure from the PA to drive prices up as well. Hearing the issues or concerns from the family, if there are any, as opposed to the telephone game where the message is filtered by the agent, can help cut through the BS too. Burke there too, also means there's no BS from the Flames side.

Why worry about that?!?
Again when has Burke botched a negotiation where a player demanded a trade after dealing with him?

I'm not too worried. I have a good feeling that a deal will get signed before the opener.

You said you are a professional negotiator with years of experience, right?
Confess already. Admit that we are all the subject of some internet con.

JG is a kid with ZERO business experience. There is no way he puts his entire future solely in the hands of a sports agent.

This may just be a byproduct of things carrying on until the 11th hour. The season starting Wednesday. Parents, Flames have some vested interest. If Johnny was married with kids I am sure he would probably prefer to handle this himself.

You're making a big assumption about the relationship between Gross and the parents. If the family is as close as it's thought here, Gross is already on the inner circle. I would speculate that the parents were probably the ones that chose him in the first place. The more likely scenario is that the parents know exactly what the ask is and are sold on its legitimacy already.
At the end of the day who knows. None of us.

Oh for cripes sake. He's 23 years old about to sign a $50 million dollar contract. His parents have been involved every step of the way.

I addressed this earlier today. He's a divisive individual who has a long history of making aggressive / offensive / combative statements. He doesn't strike me as a guy who is great for building collaborative discussion.

I don't see how a professional negotiator with years of experience could be so naive as to suggest that the parents would not be involved.

It's been debated for over 300 years already, why would it suddenly change?
Personally I use it because it quickly reveals who has a stick up their ass.

Not sure. Perhaps business. I meant real world. Kind of like law students who graduate thinking they know how to practise. This process will be a great learning experience for him no doubt.

So are we accusing him of being a Gm? Lewis Gross? A lawyer? All of the above? This needs to be poll, entitled: "What is Gaudreavertime's secret identity?"
