remember when an Oilers fan painted the scene of Yakupov - sliding down the ice on his knees - on his garage door? With a big "YAK CITY" in the background?
lol

Damn this would really be good for Chicago. I have a feeling this could turn into a seguin situation for edmonton where people look back and scratch their heads. Especially since playing for the hawks would instantly improve Yak by 100%

Will he leave Edmonton at 88 mph and appear in Chicago?

Yak is very talented, for basically giving up nothing, I would love him as a flame but there's no way they deal him to us. Too much opportunites for revenge for Yak. TBH last year I was kinda hoping Russell got traded for Yak, no way it was happening tho.

The joke will be on Chicago when those AHL players get inserted directly into the Oilers starting lineup.

Dreger reported on Tuesday that the Oilers were willing to take a 3rd round pick for Yakupov at one point. No takers. They may be even asking for less now.

Yak would pretty much slot into the 1st line RW spot by default. What would be awesome is if he clicked with Gaudreau and Monahan. It would be worth the estimated price.

Yakupov is not good, he would absolutely not play on our first line. Poirier is better than Yakupov.

He's a very mediocre player. May have a hot streak here and there with the Hawks but I expect he would spend time in Quennville's doghouse. The fact 29 teams wouldn't give up a 3rd round pick tells you all you need to know about how good a player he is.

I'd do a Yakupov/Chaisson swap if there was some salary retained

I expect Yak to become the new gold standard by which all future first-overall busts are hereby measured. Training camp is truly the most optimistic time for those of us that bleed orange and blue.

Jeez...if the price is that low, I think it's worth a shot for the Flames. Our RW depth is atrocious, especially with Poirer seemingly taking a step back.
The guy is a defensive nightmare but still has tons of talent. With the right situation and coaching there's a very good chance this bites the Oilers in the ass very soon.

Woah there fella. You're forgetting about who Chicago is trading with. Once any player goes to Edmonton, they are an AHLer.

AHL prospect for Yakupov? Wow that is brutally low. I wouldn’t mind the Flames taking a chance on him assuming Smid is on LTIR and we actually have some cap after Johnny. Edmonton is where talent goes to die, I could see Yak getting a decent boost leaving the Oilers.
