The Grouse Grind comments are hilarious. Is that was Bruce didn't make the cut?

Heep, I am imagining that we'll see something more Akin to the Penguins break outs where they're fast but short, quick passes out of the zone where the whole 5 man unit moves together as opposed to Hartley stretch the 5 man group so far out the FW's have to wait for a stretch at the zone entry at a stand still or chase down an icing from a stop..

I really think it is all as simple as that.

I think it's a bit less simple than that. I think Burke often throws out things as some sort of misdirection or to deflect, or simply to get a reaction.
But yes, absolutely - nothing to see there.

Makes me think of all the times Hartley would bench Bennett for the OT against all better judgement.

Yeah, that really heartened me. I imagined a much tighter-knit breakout pattern, similar to the kind of system that the Kings deployed. Everyone's in on the play to an extent.
Unique Team Traits: The LA Kings provided each other with support while smashing everything else
Good illustrations on how they utilize the far-side winger to drive all the way across the ice to provide support rather than stay on the weak side hoping for the pass.

He mentioned that he wanted the big players to play big and the fast players to play fast. So that makes me think of Colborne and Dougie, who could use a boost in physical play - although Dougie has improved quite a bit in that regard over the past season.

Mostly annoyed at Millions for beating around the bush with that Bennett comment. If any media types on the board want to expand on exactly what he meant that'd be marvelous.

Nice work by Heath Brown. You don't often see a CTV, CBC, Global etc sports guy getting in early on these kinds of things and being right.

When Francis asked his question about Gaudreau Gulutzen responded by talking quite a bit about how his top line will spend considerable time playing against other top lines. This made me think about how utterly the Crosby line dismantled the Thornton line in the SC Finals, and how this was a pro-active coaching tactic that Sullivan employed to his advantage.
I think if there is a team that Gulutzen wants to emulate, based on his responses that team is probably this year's vintage of the Penguins.

It makes sense that they would have similar styles as they both were under the tutelage of Torterella and worked together.

When his name was first mentioned, I looked at his previous experience and noticed that he was the coach in Vegas for a number of years when they were the Flames ECHL affiliate. I kind of dismissed that link though, thinking that it's just the ECHL and he wouldn't have had much involvement with the Flames directly.
It was interesting to hear him mention the fact that he did participate in development camps with the Flames during that time, so he had some previous experience with Gio and Wideman. Plus, Engelland played for him in Vegas for a couple of seasons.

I think the question was that Sam was not used as other liked and Glen said that he would like some one who can carry some weight, I think that's what happened.

Was underwhelmed when the rumours started but the more I researched about the guy, the more I warmed up to him. It really seems him and Treliving are cut from the same cloth.
Welcome to Calgary, Glen

I really like that he was also the GM in Vegas with the Wranglers and built that franchise from the ground up.

After listening to the press conference I'm convinced the new coach's nickname should be Juice.

This is spot on, watching the Crosby line was something else, the Crosby line exploited every weakness the Thornton line had, part of the problem was that the San Jose coach made no adjustments to fix that or it may have been that Pens coach was that much better and Glen comes from the game mould as the Pens coach.
I think if we want the Flames top line to play like Crosby's line, we need someone big there, David Backes would be a good fit there. I think you can Backes and get some for the Bennett line(will be very hard to), that you can have too line with the potential to do that.
