Chris Nichols @NicholsOnHockey
McKenzie: Glen Gulutzan and Todd Rierden 'seem to be the two names that are more prominent right now' for #Flames' head coach job. 1040

McKenzie: My sense of it seems to be if #Flames can reach satisfactory contract situation w/ Gulutzan, that 'he's the likely guy.' #Canucks

Right.
I forgot the analytics guys look at every stat except Stanley Cup wins.

With Boomer grilling him over and over, Treliving may have just spouted a "yes" to the question of whether or not he has his guy pegged for the job. There's no way that answer could damage Brad's rep as he's going to have to pinpoint a candidate soon.
That "yes" btw was said with pure malice. It had notes of "eff off" in it.

Ben Kuzma @benkuzma
Have been told to "bet on it" that Flames will name #Canucks assistant Glen Gulutzan as new head coach.

Randomly heard that Ben Cooper (Nucks video coach) would follow as well if Gulutzan were hired. Mmm...this Orange Julius tastes good.

Someone tell me how to feel about this. On one hand, its always nice to screw the Canucks. On the other hand, his record in Dallas is worrying. :/

I'm not to excited about it, but then again I wasn't there for the interviews. Hopefully if he is hired he'll do a great job.

I hope the Flames management doesn't put too much weight on interviews rather than previous track records...

I think if you watch some videos on Gulutzan, you'll see he comes across as an intelligent and well-spoken guy who is liked by his players. Praise from the likes of Benn, Dillon, Eakin.

Interesting to note Gulutzan and Brad Treliving have crossed paths before. Only 1 year separated them as Brandon Wheat Kings in late 80's

Maybe BT hired him a long time ago, and his role was to F up the Canucks' team and playoff hopes.

Bill Belichick's record after 5 seasons in Cleveland:
CLE Total 36 44 0 .450
Later he got better.
So Hopefully Gulatzan learned something in Dallas
PS - I am in no way a fan of the Patriots - can't stand'em as a mater of fact

He had one stint. Are you going to write off a guy who comes in with a great vision and plan for the team because his first and only other stint in the NHL wasn't successful?
I hope it's the opposite. I care more about the plan and vision he has for the team rather than his one other stint since who knows what else came into play with that team.

Interesting article on Glen Gulutzan on how he got his first NHL coaching role in Dallas and how he has developed since becoming an assistant in Vancouver under Torts and Desjardins. Quite a small but interesting read (apologies if posted elsewhere)
behind the bench, getting the call
