He probably flat out told them to trade him to Detroit or he was going back into the draft. Basically, he's an entitled prick just like Erixon. Luckily 99% of kids drafted aren't like that.

In a pretty bloody nice location....where the farm team is also in the same location so the brass can watch. Don't let the door whack you on the way out.

Sheesh, jumping to conclusions a bit here? There could also be very good personal reasons. I'm guessing you know nothing about this guy, so maybe don't lay the hate so thick?

There was quite a bit more info on his situation.

He said he didn't think he would get an opportunity here but nobody believed that or thought it was a good reason. From there people jumped to the conclusion that Erixon wanted to play for daddy's team and that the Rangers tampered.

If this was Sadowy rejecting the Flames, people would be choked, and they wouldn't care about the real reason why he wouldn't sign, they would just come to their own conclusions and decide the truth for themselves, just like Erixon. It's different when it's the home team I guess.

The major problem many people have with Tom is he had been telling the Flames he would sign. When he expressed concerns the Flames addressed every one of them. He wasn't forthright about the situation.
Plus he sucks.

Fair enough, that might be a distinction. Still, I just can't stand it when these kids do this. You were drafted by an NHL team ffs!!! And you're being picky over which team?!? It's ridiculous if you ask me, a totally selfish, me-first move, and it's hard for me to wrap my head around it. All the best players in the league reported to what ever team drafted them but guys like Erixon and Sadowy think they they are too good to pay their dues. It better be a pretty good reason otherwise they are just entitled brats as far as I'm concerned. Does Sadowy have family in Grand Rapids or something?

Can't believe Tom hasn't gone back to Europe yet. Hard to believe it's already been 7 years since the Flames drafted him, and 5 years since he was traded.

Anyways, this Sadowy doesn't seem like anything more than a pretty meh prospect. Guess we will see. Probably not a bad gamble for a 3rd round pick though I guess.

His family is from the Toronto area. Playing in Grand Rapids/Detroit is probably as close as he gets to home besides signing with the Leafs.

Maybe SJ told him they were not interested in signing him and shopped him around to get something before losing him?

Seems likely - and if this is the case, at least SJ got a 3rd instead of nothing.
