It's actually pretty cheap.

Yeah, especially when a simple "I'm sorry for the choice of my words" would have been enough...

Like the Fort Mac thread, can we get the OP to update the CP contribution to Nenshi's fundraising?

I have tons of expired A&W coupons that I would be willing to donate to help this totally worth while cause.
Seriously though, what happens if Nenshi can't fundraise the 300 grand, and how long does he get to do so?

Those details are being worked out with the ethics advisor. The mayor could also donate to the cause himself.

I would certainly hope so.

Bunk:
In 2013 the floods hammered sunny side. Not because the river went over the banks, but because the city storm system back up into the neighbourhood. What is the city doing to ensure its own systems doesn't flood it in the future?

You're right. The storm drainage system is definitely part of the solution here. A fair amount of work is being done in this area: http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Page...-Recovery.aspx

Is there some way to find out which roads are closed for construction? I travel 80 Ave to 36 Street and through the tunnel to get to the airport on Saturdays. Someone told me today that some of those roads have been closed due to construction, but they weren't really sure which ones. Is there somewhere I can figure out what is closed / which way I can go ahead of time? Thanks.

The city's website pretty much has nothing.
You will have to go a different way, probably Metis-104th Ave- 36th st (back south) to tunnel.

Well the website says 36 St and 64 Ave is closed. If it's just that intersection, I could still go as where I turn on is north of there.
I didn't even know that 104 Ave went all the way through. I got a flyer from Dairy Queen about opening a store there and couldn't picture where it even was.
Does anyone know exactly what they are doing in the area? My co-worker said that they were extending Airport Trail / 96 Ave east of 36 Street but the construction sounds well south of there.

I've heard that they are twinning / rebuilding the whole stretch of 36th, similar to when they did the section North of Airport Trail a few years ago, before the tunnel opened. That would be the only reason why they need to close the whole road down for such a long time.
The old country road that was the main route between two fairly large portions of the city finally getting rebuilt to the standard it should have been for a while.
I believe this type of road widening is developer funded, so I guessing that the developer getting going on the parcel north of 80th, and in between 36th and Metis is what is getting this done. They need to widen 80th Ave between 36th and Metis as well.

Well that's annoying that they decide to do this when I start a volunteer job that takes me to the airport once a week! It needs to be done though - those roads were pretty bad, especially 80 Ave between Metis and 36. I guess I will try out the 104 Ave option this weekend.

I think that's being addressed, but I wanted to check with your Councillor's office to confirm. The answer is not a simple yes/no. It seems that Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Association Emergency Planning and Response Committee is working closely with the City and liaising with the Province on the issues of drainage and flooding in Hillhurst and Sunnyside. There are a number of projects in the works, many of which are contingent on Provincial/Federal funding. http://hsca.ca/category/other-great-...nse-committee/ You may want to connect with them.
There is a major project in the works right now is the Sunnyside Sanitary Lift Station Replacement. You can read about this here: http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Page...placement.aspx
