Russell was a god-send for Dallas with Klingberg going down. Dallas is definitely happy, but still wishing they didn't give up so much for a rental player.
I'm sure they'll try to re-sign him in the off-season.

Facts are fun without any context surrounding them, so apology accepted. I'm always amazed at your obsessive need to draw direct lines between all situations. It's as if what happened four years ago is exactly what's happening now, no difference whatsoever, all variables being exactly the same. There was also more ice time to give out after Bouwmeester was traded, he averaged 25 minutes a night that year, Russell 22 this season. Also all players are a little different, maybe Hartley sees the benefit in limiting Hamilton more, who knows.
In Hamilton's last ten games he's played over 20 minutes seven times. His ice time has increased. Brodie averaged just over minutes a game in 2013, Hamitlon is currently just under at 19:36.
I appreciate that you go over the numbers with such a fine tooth comb, I just wish you wouldn't poop all over the comb after.

A lot of Stars' fans looked like idiots when they were crying about overpayment and how horrible Russell was. We've all seen what he can do when he steps up his game. Now suddenly they are happy they have him. Typical hockey fans
Jokes aside, I'm glad he's doing well over there. He got a bad rap around here, but sometimes all a good player needs is a change of scenery to get going again. Especially coming from a team that was as crappy as ours. I hope Russell gets paid this summer. Just not from us. He deserves it.

Russell went from a severely underrated player when he first got here from stl to an overrated one here.
Good player that will cash in come Ufa time, solid discretion on the part of the flames to part with the asset and get 3 solid pieces back.
Not surprised he's done well so far in Dallas, he has the ability to step up his game no doubt and good on him.

well he will certainly play in 50% of their playoff games if healthy...hopefully he keeps doing well and they get to the conference finals
1st rounder turns this trade from good to great for Calgary

I think this deal is a great example of how good of a GM Treliving is. Many of the fans on CP were ready to dump Russell for a 4th rounder if we were lucky.
BT knew what he was trading and wasn't willing to just take whatever he could get. Infact, he got exactly what he thought Russell was in terms of what he could contribute to another team and stuck to his guns.

Starting to think Jokipakka might be the Finnish answer to Hjalmersson.
Early still, but damn he's just what the doctor ordered so far.
A big physical defensive D-man that can skate and pass the puck efficiently.

He was scratched a game or two ago. Not sure if he's back to playing, but I think it's a safe assumption that anyone who blocks as many shots as he does is playing injured.

Ugh, a walking boot.
Just going to look forward to getting their late 2nd round pick. Going to take a lot of things going right to have it turn to a first.

They've still got a cushion at the top of the West.
The Conference semis and final are going to be INSANE hockey.
I've mentioned many times that I consider the best hockey I've ever watched to have been the Conference Finals between Chicago and LA a few years ago but this season might come close to challenging that.
Because the top of the West of LA, Chicago, Dallas, SJ and Anaheim promises some high intensity series.

haha what a trade. Seriously. Fleeced them. They gave us Jokkipaka for a few games of broken Russell. Add on the rest and wow.

Jokkipaka has been a great fit on the Flames thus far. A better fit even, when respective salary expectations are taken into consideration and where each would slot in on the defense.

I think Jokipakka is a better defenseman than Russell.

It could end up being a trade that worked for both sides, if Russell helps them past the 2nd round (and beyond).
If Benn is lifting the cup in June, I don't think they're going to feel they got fleeced.
