Damn, I really hope that Dallas goes to the WCF.
Perhaps the Flames could package up that 1st with 2nds and get into the teens, perhaps picking up Gauthier.
Laine and Gauthier as RW prospects for the Flames would literally be huge.

I thought someone said a few days ago that the Reinhart deal did meet conditions and we would be getting that 4th... Can't remember who/where

Likely three picks between about 55 and 65. That's a good opportunity to package those together to move up in the second round.

According to General Fanager, the condition is
Quote:
Calgary receives 2016 NSH 4 if Max Reinhart plays an undisclosed number of NHL games in the 2015-16 regular season/playoffs for the Nashville Predators. If the condition is not met, no pick will be provided.
|
http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/calgary-flames
Reinhart has been with the Admirals all season so I can't imagine the condition will be met.

I really hope that what we know of the Nashville 4th round pick is not completely accurate. Did Treliving really trade Reinhart away on such an unlikely condition? He wasn't that bad of a prospect.
This is troubling me a lot more than it should...

Heh, we're also paying 12M+ for our goaltending now
(Okay, what ever part of that 12M that's left. Still kind of funny in a sad way.)

If it makes you feel better, he acquired Freddie Hamilton on a similarly unlikely condition. If Hamilton doesn't play 18 NHL games this season, the Flames give up nothing for him. After tonight, the Flames will have 20 games remaining, and Hamilton hasn't played any so far.

I don't think Reinhart condition will be NHL games played. Kinda weird to say play this many and get a 4th or play nothing and get nothing? There's no middle ground in that scenario.
We need to get more info.

I really like how BT didn't send away any draft picks with any of the players.
Feels so damned good to have a GM who can win trades. Burke plays a huge role in that.

All those draft picks, especially in the 1st two rounds.
What to do with all those draft picks?
Hmmmm...
TJ Brodie - Hamonic
Giordano - Hamilton
Jokipakka - Nakladal
What to do, what to do?
I'm sure BT will figure something out.

In regards to the Freddie Hamilton and Rienhart trades, there looks like there is an unspoken rule that lets a prospect who has plateaued in one organization to be moved on to another organization with little return. It's kind of a reward to the player for being a for lack of a better term, "a good guy".

I wonder if the islanders would have interest in spoon and 2 2nds for hamonic? There are a few players I think the flames should target at the draft but for me, hamonic tips the list because of need and I think we could afford him. If Nish or Hayes is available, that would be great too but I think the flames should still look at a trade for a young impact player.

Just like last year we're in a really good position heading into the draft. This year our draft position will be much, much better as well. Gonna be a crazy draft for Treliving.
|
I'm not sure a 2nd rounder would land a second line winger.
As an example, would the Flames agree to a 2nd round pick for Frolik, who's a true 2nd liner?

Some of those picks are going to land a goalie. A good young and NHL ready goalie.

Nope. But we're thin on wingers. Gotta find a team that is deep on wingers. Might take more than a 2nd but we acquired Bourque for a 2nd and he was a 2nd liner for us for years. Marcus Nilson was acquired for a 2nd as well, elite 3rd liner or weak 2nd liner. Brett Connolly moved last time for two 2nds and he's a young winger with size, skill and skating.

The value of the 2nds will grow towards the draft, especially with Toronto having so many picks this year. I suspect this will be the most hyped 2nd-6th round draft we will see in our lifetimes.
So.......
i am expecting a draft floor deal or two involving our 2nds and our high 3rd to shore up a few holes on the roster.

Reinart plays some NHL games. So we're not likely to be getting that 4th rounder. I think we can scratch it off the list.

I feel the Flames are going to sell Wideman, Bollig, and maybe Smid and Raymond next season, allowing the Flames to compete for the playoffs in the 2017-18 playoffs. Bennett, Monahan and Hamilton should be better, while some of those prospects are finally starting to crack the line up.
This gives the Flames another season to figure out goaltending, have some RW scorers in the line-up, and finally start putting it together.
