I've always kind of liked Neuvirth as well. Other than the 11-12 season, he's had solid to good stats throughout his career. And since he's still only 27, there might even have a bit of upside.

Not to mention, he could be cheap to obtain and had been great this year.

Should've grabbed him in the Buffalo fire sale.

If it costs you a reasonable amount to upgrade the position in season, do it.

Frederick Andersen please

I'm all for the idea of getting a good goalie, maybe one that is in a situation where the other team would love to save on cap as long as he is a quality goalie and we can dump a bad contract back

Bernier for Raymond and 4th
Howard for Raymond and 3rd

If we went into next season with either or and not give up anything and save cap space on Raymond and what we currently spend on our goalies this year our cap situation would be in very good shape. If we can land a top 5 pick this year our prospects would be looking very good and if we had cap flexibility things could look very good if we can get better seasons from young guys like Bennett & Monahan and improved depth from someone like Porier or whoever we draft. This also buys us time for Gillies to develop

The goalie situation won't likely be resolved until the period between the draft and UFA day. Once you can ask guys like Ward/Raanta/Enroth etc if they're interested in coming to Calgary, and if they are affordable, you can make decisions on whether or not to keep Ramo or sign a new guy.

Unless they want to trade for somebody and that player is available at the deadline. UFA is only one of the routes available.

I kind of think a trade might be more likely than signing an UFA goalie. I guess we'll see.

Ugh no thanks. Pavelec is the definition of mediocre. I'd rather just re-sign Ramo if guys like Pavelec are the options.

Would the Rangers move Raanta to the Flames now so they could get the upper edge on re-signing him? We could send Ramo back + something...

It all will come down to acquisition costs.

I interpreted Friedman's comments to be that Calgary has the best two options out there for rentals and teams will be coming to us first. You don't control the goalie market as a buyer, but you do as a seller. This is good news, as long as Treliving doesn't Burke us and wait too long to make a deal.

But he talks about striking now for next season. Wouldn't that imply they looking to add a goalie?

Bishop is probably tops of my list, however, watching Elliot play right now vs preds has me thinking he may be the best option as he likely costs less to aquire and hopefully is replaced by gillies in the future.

Elliot , Ortio I could handle this well

Kuemper is another option there's a thread on hfboards comparing his situation to that of Martin Jones from last year - Wild won't be able to pay him the money he'll likely be looking for...

I'm thinking Raanta and or Kuemper here

I listen to a lot of wings radio since I'm in the area. They constantly talk about trading Howard, with Calgary as the most mentioned destination.

The most realistic trade I've heard them propose was Howard+1 of Jurco/Sheahan for Wideman and a mid round pick.
