17 games of a broken Forsberg. Now they actually have a young stud C to build around, where as Forberg left that summer.

I like the deal for both sides. Could be a big win/win. I think Jones will take his game to the next level not having to play behind Weber and Josi. It will be sink or swim but I think he'll do well.

Reading the "other board" and the delusional morons on the Oilers board are saying that Seth Jones is going to be Dougie Hamilton 2.0, and that they dodged a bullet. Then again, they also think RNH is superior to Johanson. The delusions run deep.

As if Hamilton 2.0 is somehow a problem???

Did they stop watching Hamilton after the first 10 games?

17 games. Plus 5 playoff games. He did put up 19 points in those 22 games though

Yes, Hamilton 2.0 is better than anything the Oilers have on their blueline up to rebuild 3.0.

Clearly sour grapes from a fan base that knows deep down the chances of getting a Seth Jones calibre defenseman in a trade is slim to none. Reality must be a hard thing in Oilerland.

Well played, GMs Poile & Kekäläinen, well played.

Probably could have gotten Johansen for Brodie. Not that I would ever consider that.

There are a couple moderators there who failed their way to the top. The guy in my quote and the other guy are the Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish of moderators.

time to get soaked! snow strikes twice!

in all seriousness how good is it to be a flames fan for the next few years?
here are the ages and numbers for these two young blue chip players involved today:
seth jones: 21yrs 199gp 63pts
ryan johansen: 23yrs 309gp 193pts

you would be lucky to have either player on your team

now look at our young core:
dougie hamilton: 22yrs 217gp 97pts
sean monahan: 21yrs 195gp 122pts
johnny gaudreau: 22yrs 120gp 104pts

factor in bennett and brodie and this roster doesn't need to continue to add to it's core. these are the guys. i hope we don't see a blockbuster flames trade this year, as exciting as it can be.

Yikes. This is the same fanbase that calls Klefbom a number 1 Dman. I for one am so glad the Oil didn't get Jones. A Nurse-Jones pairing would have been scary in a few years.

Agree Jones will elevate his game as he matures. He is already a #4 on any team.
It is unfortunate that tool Torts will be his coach.
As for Johansen he will be much better off away from that hot head of a coach. Only issue i see is will the Nashville fans be expecting a superstar in return for Jones. Johansen is a very good young center but Jones is steep price to trade away.
I kind of had the same reaction hearing Jones was traded so soon like when Boston traded 42 pt Hamilton away. Its shocking.

I don't think Johansen was ever bonified, unless he went to the wrong boarding school.

^ That there is a bona fide bad joke.
