Agreed. The last couple callers have been ok, but some of the earlier ones were just awful. Pat is way more patient than I would be :P
Pat is looking like he is one caller away from losing his job right now. Jesus he sounds like he is about to ####ing lose it. Ultimate fan boy is about to go nuclear.
Paul Byron > Brad Treleving, Michael Ferland, Brandon Bollig, Matt Stajan, Josh Jooris, Derek Grant, Bob Hartley, Calgary Flames
FML.
It's just the fact that the Habs plucked him off waivers that really stings. Treliving should get full credit for Raymond, who nobody even wanted on waivers at HALF the salary.
So cool that Byron was a star tonight
Does anybody really believe that he would have a been a difference to the Flames start this season...I hope not.
As a player, perhaps not, but as a person on a team? Possibly. It's hard to quantify the effect that individuals have on a group and it is undoubtedly myriad factors that are contributing to the Flames' woes, but seeing a good bro waived could have a negative effect on young players.
I know it's a business and players need to get used to it, but it could be a factor.
Edit to add: I know nothing about the locker room, but it is the responsibility of management and coaching to guage the psyche of the team and make the right personnel decisions.
They are not mathematically out of it now, but they are semi-close to being realistically out of it.
.
Really, they're not mathematically out with 71 games to go.
Things can change. It's a huge hole they're in and yeah, they show no signs of getting out of it. Something needs to happen to salvage any kind of run, but the season is not over, it's not semi close to being over. It's actually very far from over. They're not gonna get back into this in a week, or two.
They are six freakin points out with 71 freaking games to go.

Is Treliving actually a good GM?
When was Raymond on waivers for half the salary? Does that even exist anymore? He cleared waivers at full salary, no?
I totally could be wrong. I'm actually curious now.

The game ended 6-2 and the third period was atrocious.
But let's be realistic here, the Flames were the better team BY FAR until the 4-2 goal when they folded. It's tough to get motivated to play when your goalie lets in his first two shots of the period and 3 of the first 5 shots. Gaudreau and Bennett looked awesome. I think Hamilton is finally starting to come around. Monahan played good. I don't think Giordano was as bad as some of you thought he was. This is the second straight game our goalies have allowed 4 goals on their first 18 shots. It's a joke. There is absolutely no one else to blame in my mind. The weak (and in tonight's case, WEAK) goals are so deflating.
The first few games this year was a team effort. Now it looks as though everyone except our goalies have turned the corner.
Also, to any season ticket holders on here, please never sell your tickets to Habs fans ever again. I don't care how much they're willing to pay for them, they are the most annoying people on the planet outside of Oiler and Canuck fans.
Agreed....this was all on Ortio. After he gave the game away, then the walls came down. I don't jump to blame early, but the goaltending has been weak all year, and this game was the worst. The flames would've won the last 2 if they had even decent goaltending.
I was hard on Hamilton after the first 5 games, but he has stabilized once he was taken off that first pair. And as you said, most of the rest of the team has turned the corner and is playing well, but tonight it was completely sabotaged by the weak goals. We would be fine with goaltending like last year, and probably well above .500 if we had elite goaltending. Instead we are getting worst in league, and the record reflects that.

Few more losses and he'll get there
Love how he was trying to talk, and ends up just putting the guy on hold after failing to speak over him.

I generally agree with this. The Flames did a tonne of good things through 2 periods and generated many more chances than the Habs, but they're having no luck putting pucks in the net, and absolutely everything is going in on them.
If you buy analytics, even through the game as a whole, the Flames were the better team. IMO, they're working hard lately, and playing well in a lot of areas, but are lacking confidence and are just plain snake-bitten.
Flames have one reliable d pairing and occasionally two lines. We have a bunch of veteran players just stinking up the joint night after night. The goaltending has been brutal but defensively they're getting poor support.
Not that this is an excuse but I think our schedule to start the year kind of sucked. There hasn't really been much stability.
Opening night - home vs Van, then away, then home, then away, back home on back-to-back (vs greasers), home vs Wsh and Det (only time they've been at one place for more than 2 days). Then the 3-game road trip. Now home vs the habs and on the road again for back-to-back vs the greasers again.
That's almost an 12-game road trip to start the year. Just a thought.

Three goalies to start, confidence gone
Bouma hurt
Colborne hurt
Ferland hurt
Dougie is new
Brodie is hurt
Frolik is new
Bennett is new
Stretch pass has been figured out
Byron gone
So many things that threw off the mojo, this league is very close. Even Edmonton is a team that is close enough in skill to compete against any team. It's no surprise we are losing, so many factors that get in the players heads to throw them off. 10 factors off the top of my head that are different than last year and only 3 of them are positive changes. It's not one thing it's many things making us suck.

It started as Overtime with Pat Stienberg and turned into overtime presented by Perry Mason/ Howard Stern / Jerry springer.
And there it is Pat just lost on caller Therrien. Like the caller just shut up and sounded like he was going to cry Wow!!!! You could hear someone twll Pat to calm down damn.......
next caller he wont let anyone talk and is screaming at them
Pat is starting to sound like an ass now Honestly. I get tht it is annoyi g but your asking these people to call in so you have a paycheck. Holy hell.... If he keeps this up no one will want to tlk to him and he loses some cash.
