Team politics be it left, right, or centre always dumb down issues and relies on ignorant and hardcore people to get out their vote. Don't pretend its any different for the others, just because they align with your viewpoints.

Ford is a fool from Toronto that did some silly and some criminal things that has zero impact on my life and doesn't represent Canada.
Why would I be more embarrassed by Ford than Trudeau? He doesn't represent me or my country, he doesn't impact me at all either. He also doesn't take himself serious or try to come off as some quality guy or anything that he isn't.

Ford's antics were widely reported around the world in the media. We looked ridiculous having such a moron as the mayor of our largest city. Trudeau isn't the perfect leader, but he won't embarrass us more than Ford or Harper already have.

|
Not really. I am take an even harder stance on drugs than Harper does so I am not a fan of Ford's drug use but I or Harper are not asking him to watch our children or head up a drug task force. He is meeting with him to get voters to defeat what would be a terrible fate for our country, Trudeau being PM.
So if he has to go to a meeting and shake Fords hand it doesn't bother me at all since the alternative could be much, much worse.

I was told by a very proud and successful man once, that you should surround yourself with those of good character, and you can get a good idea of the type of person someone is by those he chooses to surround himself with. So this seams particularly telling to me.

I look at a lot of successful people and the type of people they are, let alone those around them, and that seems like a nice statement but in truth something that rarely translate.

Agreed. Politics are the sale of ideas, and the best way to sell is to convince that other people's ideas are "un-Canadian", "unconstitutional", "heartless", "careless", etc.
Trudeau was right when he said his job isn't to do the math, but to sell ideas... he knows what he is saying is immaterial because anyone doing math on any of the platforms knows there's missing pieces. Harper's platform of not messing with the Tax Act and not going into deficit is safest, but really, that can and should change if the circumstances merit it. That doesn't sell or motivate the extreme wings, so its glossed over.

The debates would be a good place to start. I have only seen a few interviews with him but they have always had him coming off looking like a fool but perhaps he was just off on those 5-6 times and he really is intelligent all other times.

Specifically what part of the debates?
I watched all of them, and while Trudeau didn't deliver a masterful oratory performance (none of the candidates did), he certainly didn't say anything that made him look like a "complete idiot", and he definitely wasn't anywhere close to being a national disgrace and embarrassment like Rob Ford.

Do you seriously think this country is going to go to hell if Trudeau gets in? Fortunately, it looks like you are going to get to see the real truth. The country will be just fine, and most likely better in the coming years, without Harper.

Could Care Less

For the first time in my life I don't think I can vote conservative. This BS about old stock Canadians, and the "barbaric cultural practices of your neighbour" (which made me think of Nazi Germany), and now embarrassingly cavorting with Rob Ford...plus I don't even think that Harper has shown his face in my riding. Which is his home riding. He is on my ballot.
Their backwards views on social issues has finally gotten to me, and overrides my alignment with them on economic policy.
The best case IMO would be a minority conservative govt with a new leader, but frankly I feel a bit insulted that Harper thinks that his base is a bunch of fanatical slack jawed yokels.
Unfortunately the alternatives are also quite poor IMO. Mulcair doesn't understand the economy and comes across as inauthentic and populist, and I would never trust that party to make important decisions on the economy. I don't think Trudeau has much substance or experience but willing to give him a shot I guess.
Bleh. Kind of feel crappy about the whole thing. At least it's almost over. I wish someone capable from the private sector would get fed up and run for office.

I think it will be a much worse place for me and my family to live in yes.
Hell is a strong word since Trudeau likely won't have enough freedom to do everything that he would like to do and will have to have some constraint.

What is Trudeau going to do to your family? Is he gonna move next door and play loud music?

I would say the overall thing is the way he delivers his message and to me he comes across as an idiot. I found he rarely answers the question but instead goes to buzz words/phrases or tries to spin it to something he might be able to pretend he knows about.
As for "in most eyes" not really sure I trust or care about what most eyes say especially if it is coming from the left wing media or Liberal supporters.

Negatively effect the economy, especially the oil field, which directly hurts me and family as well as many friends of mine. I am totally against his stance on marijuana so that will have a very big negative impact especially with me having young kids that will soon become teens.
