Happy that Raymond was waived, it's the right decision. Bit indifferent about Byron - I like him and don't necessarily want to lose him on waivers, but I think the Flames can easily cope if somebody puts in a claim.

Would be shocked if Raymond was claimed. As for Byron, it could easily go either way imo

I feel for Byron but I never thought he had a secure roster spot heading into the off season and was a little surprised he was signed. I think he needs a little rehab as he is coming off of some injuries/surgeries. Playing big minutes in Stockton might be the best thing for him for a little while.

Buh bye Raymond.

Granlund will be a 35-40 pt player this year if he stays healthy.

Byron and Raymond were outperformed by Granland and Hathaway. Byron really has become redundant unfortunately with our increased depth. Bollig looks better and quicker this year and both Jooris and Hathaway bring speed, size and physical play but have a significant size/strength edge on Byron.

Be interesting to see how this shakes out over the next month.

I'm not big on Byron so I'm fine with both of these moves.

Wanna guess how many players there are that fit these three basic criterion? Wanna guess who they are?

Patrice Bergeron
Mikael Backlund
Paul Stastny
Joe Thornton
Gabriel Landeskog
Paul Byron

Even if you say, "well the other five are way better players than Byron", that still means.. there's no other Byron in the NHL.
And if you add in a 4th point of criterion....
4) Effective everyday NHLer

The list shrinks to

Patrice Bergeron
Mikael Backlund
Paul Stastny
Joe Thornton
Gabriel Landeskog

If these two, along with Granlund, get assigned to Stockton, that team should be pretty damn solid while they are there.

I would also expect some of our prospects to spend time with the Thunder so as to get more ice time.

I like the message this sends to the room, it's consistent with what Hartley has said from day one. Earn your spot.

I expect both to clear and be given a chance to be called up.... I'm fine with both.

If they wouldn't sign Glencross to a league minimum contract no way in hell they are paying Raymonds contract.

That would turn your criterion into...

1: Quantifable Fact
2: Quantifable Fact
3: Quantifable Fact
4: Subjective Opinion

... one of those things is not like the other.

Gives us flexibility if a team is trying to sneak somebody we really like through waivers.

Kind of sad to see Byron go, but that sadness was quickly replaced by great joy when I saw Raymond's. Good riddance.

Now who will be the CP whipping boy?

And this is why analytics breaks down. Because if you want to play the "one of these things is not like the other" game, then here you go:

Patrice Bergeron
Mikael Backlund
Paul Stastny
Joe Thornton
Gabriel Landeskog
Paul Byron

Well a quantifiable fact is that the Quality of Competition that those other players face is much higher than what Byron faces.
