Haha man I tried to say a positive thing about klefbom and got ripped. Good on ya but have fun with the hate
Anyway, the sad thing is nikitin is probably 4th best D on the team. Jultz, Ference, gryb . Reinhart are all at his level

You "got ripped" because you are so obviously a veiled Oilers fan posting under the pretentious guise as a Flames fan. It is so patently obvious from your obsessive participation in discussions exclusively about the Oilers, at which point you don't miss an opportunity to project your "unbiased opinions" about how good they really are.
You're not fooling anyone. You and JohnnySkittles actually have quite a bit in common.

Does anyone remember who The 5 Giordanos were? I think it was Petry, Potter, Peckham, Fedun, Chorney...?
Just out of morbid curiosity...

What is this five Giordanos thing anyways? I've never heard anyone say that before.

Someone proposed a trade involving Giordano going to Edmonton a few years ago.
Champion responded to the proposal that the Oilers didn't need Giordano because they already have 5 or 6 Giordanos.

I think calgaryblood's point is fair, there is a good chance Klefbom will be an NHL quality player in 3 or 4 years. But he has the type of contract that can get an OK player ran out of the league.

Considering his pedigree, its a reasonable gamble.
The Oilers have plenty of material to mock, the Klefbom contract is not one of them.

I thinks it's a bad comparison
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=100921
Josi
1st pairing on a strong defense
100 games (lockout shortened season)
34 points
-6
22 PIM
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=134395
Klefbom
2nd pairing on one of the worst defenses ever iced
77 games
23 points
-27
4PIM
If Josi's second season hadn't been a lockout his numbers across the board would have been double Klefboms, he also had 10 playoff games.
Nikitin's first 2 years he was closer to Josi than Klefbom has been
102 games
41 points
-9
28 PIM

I believe the quote from Champion was "the Oilers don't need a Giordano, they have a glut of him". Over the years, glut got turned into 5 in our collective memories.
Kind of the "Luke, I am your father" of cp if you will.

Nailed it.
It's so pitiful, really. I can't imagine what it's like having a favourite team that sucks so bad that you would actually go on a rival team's forum posing as one of them just to try and get them to say something, anything good about your team, because you don't even realize how much your team sucks. Pro-tip: if your own fellow fans can't even find good things to say about your crap-ass team 10+ years running, then you probably won't find rival fans who will side with you. Flamesforver, I suggest giving up and cheering for a much better hockey team, like Toronto, Florida, New Jersey or the Japanese national team.

Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
Defenceman Nikita Nikitin cleared waivers and has been assigned to the AHL's Bakersfield @Condors.
Most expensive contract in the AHL.

Probably the end of his NHL career. If he plays out the season and then goes to the KHL he will have made very decent money for playing less than 250 games
Weird to think that he was traded for Kris Russel and a season later it looked like Columbus won the trade

Plus Scrivens, plus Ference not playing.
Chiarelli really making MacTavish look like, well, MacTavish I guess. Howson must be feeling hot around the collar too

Why? Short of wiping their asses with Gretzky's banner I cant imagine what they'd actually have to do to get fired.

I'm sure Howson and the rest aren't too concerned about that. They're all part of the same team now after all, each one are Oilers for life apparently. I would actually bet money that Chiarelli leaves Edmonton before Lowe, MacTavish or even Howson ever does. He's the outsider after all, Katz clearly is still very much enamored with the 'old guard'.
Besides, what GM hasn't made similar mistakes? Our very own amazing GM has Mason Raymond on his own personal score card. The only difference is the Flames are a legit NHL franchise and will fire Brad if he makes enough of those bad moves. In Edmonton, it's grounds for promotion/retention/new job title.
