I friggin knew he was a good guy, despite his polarizing behavior on ice he's obviously got an incredibly good heart. Watching him spend time with kids you could tell he was doing it because he asked to and not because of team obligations.

PK is truly a stand up role model off the ice. You can tell he wants to do right by the community and use his stardom to make other peoples lives better.

He seems to be getting a bit more tolerable on the ice as well as far as his antics are concerned.

What an amazing gift. The 10 million is huge financially, but the impact that 10 million will have on the sick kids and their families will be priceless to them.

PK has grown considerably since his career began. He's an inspiration.

It's great to see more threads like this instead of 'Patrick Kane being investigated for rape'. Good job PK!

This is the second biggest NHL charity donation of the year. Standing ovation for Subban.

Not to get too off-topic, but PK just donated 14% of his net worth (based solely on this current $72M contract) to charity.

Murray Edwards et al. have offered to contribute 1% of his $2.2B net worth towards CalgaryNEXT - which they intend to profit from

Interesting counter balance (I know it is not apples-to-apples)

Whats the first?

Patrick Kane's donation to the Law Society of New York?

I dont think that counts.

I will wait for Darren Pang's analysis of this first before I like it or not. I just don't know if this is the right way for players to act.

Any attempt to minimize such a substantial donation by even referencing a tax deduction is absolutely wrong IMO. The guy is donating 14% of his salary over the next 7 years. That exceeds the generosity of 99.9% of citizens out there. Plus you have the fact that he makes his living in a field known for short careers. Give him all the tax deductions and publicity he wants. If it makes more athletes behave this way, all the better.

Isn't 1% of $2.2B only $22 million? They offered $200M and another pseudo $200M.

You are missing a decimal point there my friend.
