Can't do a single pull up?
Just means not up to fitness standards set by the NHL team.

I'm guessing they had the team had them at 13, 14 and 15th players to be tested today but these guys expected to be in the 40 and failed to show up on time.

All three #NHLBruins 2015 1st round draft picks, Zboril, DeBrusk, & Sensyshyn, failed today's off ice testing.
Initial response would be "OUCH".

Yeah, whats the definition of 'Fail?' Is there a grade or how do they measure it?

Lol, how would I know? Sweeney didn't sound too happy about it. I'll try to find some quotes.
Here:
DJ Bean @DJ_Bean 1h1 hour ago
Sweeney says a couple rookies failed conditioning test. Said it's a test guys can pass if they can train for it. #Bruins

It wasnt directed at you specifically, I just mean, its a fitness test, I figure it usually means you've got to do certain things a certain number of times at a certain weight withing a certain time?
But then what the hell do I know about it?

Lol I was rewatching the Flames Bruins "Montador" game and there's a scene in slomo (they had to replay because it happened behind the play) where Hudler of all Flames gives Dougie a bit of a late hit, and Dougie takes offence and starts shoving Jiri. Hudler responds with a facewash.
Even better, this happens right in front of the Calgary bench. So naturally, Gio and Engelland lean over the bench and start yelling at Dougie. It's funny watching this happen in retrospect because Gio, Hudler and Engelland were likely first to call Dougie to welcome him to Calgary. Gio did it like right after the trade IIRC.

Flames trade 15th OA, 45th OA, and 52nd OA for Dougie Hamilton
This is golden:
With all seven of the Flames defencemen on stage to kick off the team’s pre-golf tourney luncheon, Hamilton spoke up when the group was asked who would be the first to take a chunk out of Oilers phenom Connor McDavid.
“I actually played against him his first game in the OHL and laid him out first shift,” smiled Hamilton.
Eliciting a roar from Flames fans already gathering a hate-on for the Oilers’ supposed savior from Erie.

The smear campaign continues...
In Hamilton’s case, reports that he was unanimously disliked are more hyperbole than truth; the young defenseman had a couple of friends on the team. But he was never really a good fit for the Boston market, for the team, or for the identity of the Bruins. He read and heard -- and took to heart -- absolutely everything that was written and said about him (and a lot is written and said in this intense media market), wasn’t nearly tough enough, and didn’t seem all that interested in working on becoming the dominant two-way defenseman his skills indicate he can be. Instead he seemed most focused on power plays and points and becoming a great offensive defenseman, rather than a dominant all-around player.

This article is pure gold. Let's have Marchand talk about how the dressing room is divided and there are separate cliques. Let's take the word of one of the biggest d-bags in the game.
Quote:
A poll of veteran Bruins players, if truth serum was involved, would probably reveal that many of them felt that guys like Hamilton and Reilly Smith weren’t willing to pay the price to win, and didn’t really want to be Bruins at the end of the day.
|
So there's literally 0 evidence of this, and yet the author talks about it as proven. I mean why would you write something like this?
I'd much rather have someone like Hamilton in the dressing room than that little rat Marchant who seemed sad his fellow idiot friend Ference wasn't around.

That's a load of crap. Reilly Smith and Torey Krug both signed cheap deals in the summer of 2014 cuz the team had cap issues. Torey Krug got paid this summer and Smith got moved. So Smith didn't want to be a Bruin n the end. What a joke these writers are.

Wow spin.
Dougie is probably so freaking happy to be out of there. But wait, no I meant, he was a loner and didn't want to try to win. He was just there to collect a paycheck. Also, the pressure of playing in that 'intense media market' was too hard for poor frail Dougie....so he signed in a Canadian market....do Canadians even have media?
Summary: Boston >>> *, anyone moved was moved 'cause they were the issue. Bs will be amazing this year.

Not only that, but it goes against that sun article posted above about what Hamilton says about his style of play.
Quote:
But he is the first to admit his style of play will likely have to change dramatically given just how active all Flames rearguards are asked to be in their run and gun system.
“I think that will probably be a pretty big adjustment for me because I didn’t play that way at all in Boston,” said Hamilton, who signed a six-year, $34.5 million deal with the Flames shortly after being acquired.
“It seems there’s a pretty big green light to be able to play offence and I’m going to have to feel that out. I think my game suits that obviously but it’s just going to be an adjustment on how I play and kind of figure out how the forwards use the defence and all that.
“Last year I was playing with (Zdeno) Chara and trying to stop the other teams’ top lines and that was pretty much my job. But this team is really fast-paced and relentless and I’m excited for that.”
|
That sure doesn't seem like a guy who is soley focused on personal stats. Quite the opposite in fact.
And as for Hamilton not ''fitting in'' to the Bruins dressing room, it seems the Flames' room is a much more welcoming environment. I think he'll do just fine here. The media here is pretty respectful for the most part and appreciate if you simply put forth an effort most night.

Wait, do new Flames fans actually think Ference is an idiot/bad dude?
That's messed up man.

He's an idiot/bad dude in my books when he beat up Lee Stempniak for a clean hit and refused to take on anyone his own size.
I'm not a "new" Flames fan either.

Yeah I heard that, if truth serum was involved, Hamilton would like to quit the game altogether and probably dress up with a white sheet over his head, burning crosses around his neighbourhood.
Just saying what I probably heard was probable. Probably.

Just curious, but who is Ference's size that he refused to fight? Last I checked he was listed as 5'11". If anything, I'm guessing he was the smaller guy refusing to fight the bigger guy.
