I came back in here thinking something of substance happened!

That was a risky decision by Kane.

Haven't popped into this thread in a while. Without reading the last 20 pages, what's going on? Any news? Still talking rape?

Interesting. Wonder when/if an announcement will be made.

Ugh though, onto the civil case. I hate that, the criminal case would have shed much more light on the situation. The civil will inevitably end with a non disclosure agreement.

The DA for the case has something like a 98% win rate. And plans to run for the NY Supreme Court this or next year. I read an article saying that charges wouldn't be laid unless it's a slam dunk essentially. Losing a big public case like this would damage his career aspirations. Can't seem to find the article though.

Elected DAs seem problematic all-around. Prosecutors can also be incentivised to pursue flimsy but popular charges.

The latest news on reputable sites are saying it is most likely going to take months as of only a few hours ago.
After alot of digging around about the site I would take it as a huge grain of salt.

Perhaps the NY state authorities are considering a lesser charge than rape.

Haha so there's not enough proof to substantiate rape charges (a very serious, life ruining charge) and the first reaction is disappointment?
"He has to be guilty of something! Come on!!!"
Just cause there's not enough to lay charges doesn't mean that the DA is being a scumbag trying to protect his reputation. It could very well mean that, you know... Kane is completely innocent and there is not enough evidence to lay charges?
No, an accusers word is not enough. Also, stop calling them a "victim". There has been no evidence of a crime.
This is exactly why rape accusations need to be kept private as much as possible.

Problem with rape cases. Unless it was a brutal and violent rape there really is no evidence.
Should be seen before a jury that knows all the facts though.

If there's no charge, I wonder if the police investigate the accuser now.
