The project is on par with something you would see in New York, London, or Paris. People will visit Calgary to see it.
 |
Missed opportunity IMO. People will want to naturally flow out of the the sports events and head to local pubs, restaurants and bars. You can do that with the current Saddledome.

Looks like Mikey's is about to become Calgary's hot spot!

I have to believe that they're going to have flood proofing plans built right into this thing.
For the amount of time it has taken to get this into the public there's no way the Flames have been short sighted enough to not have Flood contingencies built in place for this project.

Close to river doesn't mean it's in a flood zone. Didn't flood there in 2013, yet areas much further from the rivers did flood.

The no red-mile comment is also probably so that Sunalta residence dont lose their S**t over noise / drunks concerns

Any word about traffic flow in and out of the stadium? Or if any of this plan has any relation to or impact on the city plans to deal with traffic on Crowchild (over the bow)?

The thought of Labour Day in a dome seems wrong to me. I probably wont go to Stamps games after this is built.

this is the best picture i could find of Sunalta that shows the relation to the greyhound station. Not very far at all cross over the CN tracks and then like 1 minute walk. I've done it before.

I took it as no party strip / alley for people to gather. The renderings (albeit they are just renderings) appear to support that claim.

Missed opportunity IMO. Probably Sunalta NIMBYs raising a stink.

As I stated before, I will pay good money to throw the first match at that place.

Its stated right on the screen. But thats a reference to size, not whether it has sufficient seating or an adequate field type.
