Looks like they were simply out of time. Other teams realized that and weren't looking to do Chicago any favours.

Which is unfortunate. Could you imagine if we added Saad to our 2nd line?

I cannot believe that Chicago traded Saad. Damn, how I wish the Flames were in on this one.

Anisimov isn't a bad piece either but is a UFA at end of next year and Hawks won't be able to afford him either.
Morin, and Tropp are throw in pieces.
In a couple years this could look bad if it's just Dano for Saad and Paliotta

Dano is no joke. Good trade for both teams.

WOW
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
CHI traded Saad because he was looking for 6 yrs with AAV of $6.5M. May have been an offer sheet coming tomorrow from a team with those #s.

And how do rumours that he was looking for $4M come out? Pure lies?

If Saad gets 6.5 then Taraesenko is getting 9.

6.5? He's good, but not that good. Yet.

So this trade doesn't change his offer sheet availability does it?
Still possible Calgary could offer sheet him.

6.5 is steep. Love Saad but if your paying those kinds of dollars I'd prefer offer sheeting Tarasenko.

Can someone who knows give a quick ranking of the prospects involved? Hard to evaluate the trade when I'm not familiar with Paliotta or Broadhurst.

I really hope he doesn't get $6.5, that would really screw up the Monahan/Gaudreau market IMO.

That Kekelainen fellow is a heck of a GM. They draft amazingly and have made some savvy moves since he and Davidson rolled into town.

No it doesn't, but Columbus has the cap space to match. Chicago doesn't.

Ya definitely a good combo. I think we got a pretty solid combo ourselves though.
