Ndp will be raising royalties, it's part of their platform.
If you think this will be ok for most of us who work upstream og u r wrong. However I like the rest of their platform but can't vote for them since my livelihood could be effected.

And right here we have the biggest issue:
a) people still literally believe trickle down economics is real
and
b) people honestly believe that the PCs can (and will) maintain the status quo, so as to ensure their steadily eroding quality of life will remain unchanged.
It's impossible to maintain this QoL in North America. Things have changed too drastically in relation to the economies and QoL in the rest of the world, and we're seeing much greater balance.
We need to start thinking about sustainability, not maintainability.

They haven't said they are raising royalties. They have said that they would review them to ensure they made sense at a variety of oil prices.
The PCs most recently raised royalties, then clawed them back but had an overall increase. So while you fear the NDP the PCs already did what you fear the NDP of doind
So you could go wild rose as they have committed to the current regulatory regime. But that implies we are at the goldilocks point for royalties.

How accurately will CP line up with actual numbers this time around I wonder? For the most part the actuals lined up pretty well to what was on CP in 2012, nothing really surprising on the popular vote bit.
Last election poll we had
PC 42.79% vs 43.97
WR 37.02% vs 34.29
LIB 12.02% vs 9.89
NDP 2.88% vs 9.85
Other 5.29% vs 1.31

Good lord. That much NDP? The "anybody but X" vote usually ends badly. I have no love for the PC's but the NDP is a much worse option.

I am not surprised one bit about the results of voting here. Vocal left-leaning posters outnumber vocal right-leaning posters on this forum significantly in most politics-related discussions. It also shows the projected unity of the left vote this time due to the absence of Liberal presence against the relatively even split of the right vote.

I haven't done so yet, but I'm voting for the NDP. I don't really care for them that much (a lot of the time I disagree with their policies), but half the reason I'm voting for them is to show all the Chicken Littles that someone else apart from the PCs can hold government without the world caving in on itself. It's frustrating to live in a democracy where people are paralyzed to try anything new, even if the old guard keeps proving to them that they are rotten.
I see the situation being similar to trading Iginla. Half of our fan base was paranoid about moving on because they were afraid of the unknown, even thought the known-entity had been stuck in neutral for half a decade. Only a fw months later, it felt like a new energy had been brought into the organization, and you wondered why the hell it took so long.
Sometimes change for the sake of change is what's needed to reset expectations and to make you realize there are always more options. At this stage, I'd even prefer a WR win, and I disagree with them on almost everything.

I have no love for the current PCs, but I've also lived under an NDP regime for years. Not convinced that the world won't cave in on itself if they get in power here.

There's always an election around the corner to vote the PC's back if it does.

Well, Notley does appear to be about Gaudreau's size.

I think I'm going to vote Wild Rose. I'm tired of the PCs, and the last time a Canadian province had that opinion and voted in the NDP Ontario got Bob Rae, which was a disaster. Wild Rose seems like the least bad option to me.

LOL. You are correct, actually. Once the PC party started to move towards the centre, they've got in trouble and lost their core support. I presume "50 Shades of Grey" was an awful book, but why does it have to be so black and white in Alberta politics.

I don't live in Alberta anymore, but I think the NDP's high spend high corporate tax will not be good for business in Alberta.
I think the PC's are a complete disaster and corrupt, but if there is a party that could ruin Alberta, it would be NDP in my opinion. I hope it's anyone but NDP.

If they do a bad job, we vote them out in 4 years or less.
We really have to get rid of the "fear of change" thing. The status quo got us in the mess we're in. So let's give someone else a shot for the first time in 44 years and see what we get. Sound good?

It's almost funny, the biggest #### up in Alberta history is considered to be the NEP (which was a Federal-level policy).
That means to permanently ruin Alberta's economy, the NDP would have to institute a Provincial-level policy that is worse for Albertans than the NEP.
Complete honesty people, how many of you think this is even possible, if not likely?
