I can't believe some of you are throwing in the towel when we are tied for a spot and 1-3 points back of multiple teams
Flames last two games have been super tough (travel/opponent) they need to bounce back though but dont give up!
I'm not throwing in the towel at all, Flames can beat St. Louis but not by playing it safe. Flames are a fast team that uses their D on offense...start there!
Not even mad, every team in the race now (Kings, Nucks, Jets & Flames; Sharks are toast IMO) are going to lose a couple games going down the stretch. Avs game was definitely 'meh' but this one was somewhat expected. Plus a couple bounces go their way, they score on one of those scrambles to make it 1-1 and we may have a different outcome.
I feel like that's what a playoff series would look like against St. Louis, Anaheim and maybe LA and Minnesota too. I believe that it would be good for the team to make the playoffs and get those reps in, and I feel we could beat Winnipeg or Vancouver and maybe even Nashville in a playoff series, but I can't help but feel we'd get crushed like a bug on a windshield against the best of the west.
Still, it can't help but be good for our young guys to experience the playoffs.
- Gaudreau, Monahan, and Hudler have chemistry but not one of them is a "sniper" or a physical enough player along the boards. That's why they're not a good 5 vs 5 line. They're fun to watch agailnst bad teams but it's not surprising when better teams completely neutralize them. I'd like to see Gaudreau switched with someone, maybe Colborne. It's something the Blackhawks do with Patrick Kane too, before you attack me on it. You just can't get away with two small wingers and one of the least physical centers in the league.
- I can't wait for Sam Bennett and Emile Poirier and Drew Shore.
I think Emile Poirer is going to look really good on that line with Gaudreau one day.

Wasn't a 4-0 game. Also, I've never been at a game where a goaltender was pulled at the 8 minute 40 mark. Thought we had another power play.
Off memory, I think I remember this happening once a decade ago when one team was getting blown out. I think it was Colorado? In that case, might have been Bob Hartley again. LOL I thought it was pretty funny... good thought, with our 3rd period comebacks, if we could get 1 goal, its 3-1 and get some momentum to get that 2nd goal to make it 3-2. Didn't work but it was the most interesting part of the game in an otherwise very boring game.

Missed the game for the first time all year, but yikes. What a horrid night for the Flames and the OOT. It really seems like we get no help from some of these teams.

I agree only about St. Louis, who absolutely gives the Flames fits. But they have proven this season that they can stand toe-to-toe with virtually every other team in the WC. I am sceptical that the Flames could beat LA or Anaheim, but I believe they could take each of them to seven games—same with Chicago. They would really be in tough against St. Louis, but every one of Vancouver, Minnesota, Winnipeg, and Nashville I think the Flames could beat. I would expect them to beat Vancouver and Winnipeg.

Unfortunately the reality is we are just a rebuilding team and teams like St. Louis, Chicago, Rangers etc. are in a different level. Yes we may beat them the odd game but over a playoff series we will be done pretty quick. We just don't have the horses in the barn yet. Are we better than the Leafs and Oilers of course but we are not at the level of play of the big boys yet. Let the youngsters grow up and mature and get a few more coming in and we will be like the big boys in a few years from now.
Reality check.....
This team has show that they are tough and can come back, they never give up. Some fans have not shown that same trait. When this team faces adversity, they usually fight back with everything they've got. Some fans think that the season is over after a loss against one of the best teams in the league.
It's far from over people.

I checked. And the reality is today that the Flames are on the cusp of a playoff position with a very manageable remaining schedule down the stretch. I don't think anyone here believes that the Flames are an imminent Cup winner, but their performance over the full season does suggest that they are a pretty good team now, and much better than more than just the Leafs and Oilers.
