I don't know about that.
I think most people were hoping we'd get one of the two Sams.
But, most figured they'd be gone by the time we drafted 4th and we'd end up choosing Leon.

Usually people use 0.41 for NCAA though that might not be up to date.

OntarioHockeyLeague @OHLHockey
The @PioneerEnergy #OHL Player of the Week is @NHLFlames prospect @SBennett93 @KingstonFronts:

Quote:
The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Calgary Flames prospect Sam Bennett is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 15 after leading the league with 10 points in three games scoring six goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.
Bennett’s three multi-point games helped the Frontenacs earn three victories last week securing sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings heading into the 2015 OHL Playoffs beginning next week. Last Tuesday night he scored a goal and three assists earning first star honours in a 6-2 road win over the Peterborough Petes, then scored twice including the game-winner on Friday in a 5-2 win over the Belleville Bulls. Bennett’s week wrapped up Saturday with another first star performance with four points scoring his first hat-trick of the season and third of his career which included another game-winner as part of a 6-0 victory over the North Bay Battalion.
Bennett, an 18-year-old from Holland Landing, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the Frontenacs. Since returning to action in late February, the Flames third overall pick in 2014 has scored 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in nine games.

That is my recollection as well. Majority wanted a Sam and Draisaitl was the consolation prize.
here is the poll result on who the poster think Calgary will draft:

I knoew we had a poll like that. Just couldn't find it in my search. Pretty good evidence that people really wanted Bennett.

I'd be curious what the results would be if you gave that poll to GMs/Media around the league. Probably still in Bennetts favour I'd guess, but I'd be curious to see by how much.

I just love having that history for when you inevitably get called a revisionist or a homer for saying you like a Flames prospect better than an Oilers prospect.
Same as the prospect rankings.

96.6% would take Bennett over Draisaitl.

Agreed, just like looking back at this summer's prospect rankings where we collectively had Josh Jooris 35th! Ahead of only Acolatse, Deblouw, Elson, and Thiessen.

Oh right. Wishful thinking.

It only takes a few to get 'roasted'
I always felt it was pretty even, just as the scouting lists were pretty even.

OK but even this poll:
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=137384
Shows a pretty even split when people were asking who Buffalo would select - Reinhart or Bennet.
So the two polls combined certainly don't suggest that there was a "lot more support" for Reinhart. Nor do I recall people roasting anyone about Reinhart's game translating because that's been the worry about him as a prospect for some time.

For me, my mentality was "Either Sam is fine with me."
I remember saying if I had to pick between the two, I'd pick Sam R. because we could use a right handed shot and we have the other brother. Stupid reasons, but both Sam's were pretty much dead even for me.
I'm more than happy that Sam Bennett dropped to us, he's really showing he could have been chosen 1st if he didn't have that shoulder problem.

One thing to remember is that it was reported from sources that Edmonton was going to take Draisaitl so it looked like a foregone conclusion that we would get one of the Sams.
