I went Bennett in the Sam battle but I wouldn't be shocked either way. Bennett has had more hype lately and he seems more "Sabre" to me.

I believe it will go down as Ekblad and Bennett in the first two picks so since I picked Ekblad to Panthers I will go Bennett here as IMO Reinhart and Hodgson is a little too soft of a 1-2 punch at center so Bennett IMO makes more sense for the Sabres as he brings the rugged dimensions Hodgson lacks.

my guess is this thing goes down to the wire with each guy getting roughly 45% of the vote.
and my guess is that is exactly what happens at the Sabres table too.

Want flames to draft Bennett , but i think Buffalo takes him at #2. Buffalo takes Bennett for the same reasons flames want him, elite speed and grit. What would have been a good counter balance to Monohan , becomes good counter balance to Hodgson.

All other things being equal between the Sam's Bennett's 114 PIM and 18 in 7 playoff games brings a dimension that Sam Reinhart's 11 PIM and 2 doesn't.
If for some reason the Flames don't trade up to get Ekblad they may trade up to get Bennett.
The Flames have first hand experience on the problems of having a big skilled player who preference was not to engage physically... Bouwmeester.

I believe they take Draisati.
They have two other Germans on the team with Erhoff and Sulzer. They also have a number of European guys on the team and a history of taking a chance on European players. The last 3 drafts they have gone with a European guy in the 1st round.

Coming out of a rebuild, Bennet will put more fans in the stands and serve as an emotional leader on the Sabres. I don't think Reinhart does that.
