well yeah, but to know a player you have to scout. and if a team is offering you a player you have not scouted, well then you better scout. Common sense.

I'm sure there are a lot of things that can be ascertained from scouting like this.
And I simply mean that I have a hard time believing that management would place such emphasis on a small sample size.

If we're going to trade Raymond, I sure hope scouts were watching him 2 weeks ago and not any time before or since.

Again, I don't think it's about the sample size at all. Maybe the team is looking for someone who plays a certain way. They have been offered player A. Player A has some of these attributes as noted by perhaps his past history in the League, but management sends scouts out to see Player A, but also to see if there is a Player B or Player C option that maybe can fit better, or fit another need, depending on how the negotiation goes.

Lot's a things come into play I would imagine during the course of negotiations.

Take a step back for a second and think about what you're saying.

Do you really think hockey managers make decisions that impact millions of dollars on information they get from google?

Have you ever bought a used car? Did you buy it sight unseen based on the ad in the paper?

Do you need to be so disrespectful and condescending when responding to my posts?

Is this seriously the analogy you used?

Do I have video of every time the car is being driven like I can watch a player every time he hits the ice?

Have I been aware of the vehicle for a number of years before I start to show interest?

Just not even comparable.

And there it is. Victim card... whining. Pretty standard stuff from you.

Here is what you said:

Scouts obviously play a huge role, it's why they're paid and why they do what they do. Not to mention, the vast majority of trades include prospects and lesser known players requiring much more intel.

As for established NHLers, their current play is of paramount importance so having someone watching them closely for as long as possible is obviously advantageous.

Some really odd comments from you drew the reactions, and as usual, you get completely defensive and overreact to being called on it.

"I've always wondered how much pro scouting really impacts trades."

This question did not deserve the responses it got. It was a curious question that nobody here has the answer to.

I never completely discredited the impact of in-person viewing. At the same time, I never placed emphasis on simply using Google, so I don't know why FW mentioned it. (apparently you can only base judgments on players on in-person viewings and the Internet?)

My response to Igster was respectful and undefensive.

FW then responded with 4 sentences, all of which were completely derogatory with an intent to make me look foolish. Add to that his analogy was completely illogical.

Once again, I'm not the one overreacting. Any objective poster would agree.

I suggest that all of those who have thanked scottish_flame's post to put me on ignore.

Learn how to use PMs, grown men acting like children sometimes.

The fact photon started a new thread because the other one was a convoluted mess should have bought us at least a few weeks grace in here.

Take the bickering to PM. If you want to put someone on ignore, then put them on ignore. Derailing of this thread won't be tolerated much longer.

We really should do what was done in the past and create a thread where only actual news updates are posted. It's hard to find any recent updates in this thread.

Just reading this thread, I thought it was about buying used cars!

I wonder if teams are going to sit players they might trade. If a team is out of the playoffs and has someone on the block, do they play him this weekend and risk an injury? I'm at the point where I probably wouldn't play Glencross tonight.

The yotes have said they're looking for players with term. Berglund makes a lot of sense for them. I'm still trying to think who the Flames would have been so heavily scouting on the Coyotes.

Someone mentioned Brandon Gormley and I also suspected as such.

Don't care where he goes but I want Vermette traded ASAP. I want the focus to be on Glencross.
