Alliteration is good, but lets be honest here. It's only an option because so many people wanted in on the joke.
I'm also betting there was no chance of it being picked. Even if they put it up to public choice. The Flames would rig any vote worse than the All-Star Game votes were.
That being said, of those choices, Scorch deserves to win.

Yeah probably should have kept the name Thunder.
Heat is the best option, despite the fact that it was Abby's name 2 years ago. Scorch sounds so mickey mouse.
Still, no reason they can't use Scorch the Mascot.

A quick search reveals a few of those finalists have yet to have their domain names registered (unless the Flames have neglected due diligence). This narrows down the field considerably.

Scorch holds a special place in our hearts and shall live forever in the memories of Adirondack hockey fans everywhere. He should rise from the ashes and be reborn in Stockton.
If Albuquerque can name their team the Isotopes, which is admittedly based on the name of the Springfield Isotopes from the Simpsons, then surely Scorch can be used.
Plus they could save on mascot costs by re-using the original Scorch. If he can fight crime like he fights firefighters it would be a huge win for the community.

That seems so bizarre that they would call them the Adirondack Thunder, given there's already a team in the ECHL called the Thunder. It has no ties to Adirondack so why do it, other than sheer laziness.

They really should have just kept the Stockton Thunder. All of those options are pretty bad, but for comedy reasons, Scorch is by far the best option.

I honestly believe that allowing regular people to name anything will typically end in disaster. Having fan 'name that whatever' competitions are terrible.
I vaguely recall having a student 'name that space' competition at the U of C and it wound up being voted as the penisdome or something similarly stupid and then they just ignored that and named it something normal instead.

It's an AHL team in Stockton. Based on the history of this franchise, it'll be moving in three years anyway. And it's an AHL team in Stockton.
Give us the Scorch. (That sounds like slang for a venereal disease. Whatever, it's an AHL team in Stockton).
