I think this might just be LA's last ditch effort to see if they can get rid of the contract. If no one claims him then maybe they go back to the team they were talking with to make the trade.

It's not even just his contract that I don't like. Where is he supposed to fit into the lineup? There are already too few forwards spots and too many overpaid plugs.

Yeah, in which case they can pound sand.
Wideman is putting up twice as many points as Richards for less money and we arent in a position of strength on defence to be able to afford to lose Wideman whereas we are in a position of strength at Centre and dont necessarily need Richards.

Also, the Flames shouldn't do anything that helps LA out in any way. They're fighting for the same playoff spot right now.

Buffalo and Edmonton make too much sense. Then you have Arizona (budget team - unlikely), New Jersey (again, budget team), Ottawa (budget team) in the mix.
I can see Dallas being a darkhorse.

I still think Richards has a place, even at 5.75M.
|
If it's Richards + compensation for our surplus junk then I must say he could be a decent acquisition.

Quite the year for former stars being put on waivers. Setoguchi, Heatly, Richards.

How is Yes winning this poll? No chance this boat anchor of a contact gets picked up.

Yeah, that is the likeliest scenario. He clears waivers and then another team will trade for him, but the Kings will need to take something back or add an incentive.

Unless that "incentive" is Tyler Toffoli, I hope the Flames stay far away.

Ugh. Cannot get over the $5.75M cap hit. Especially for the player he is now versus what he used to be.

No way he gets picked up. That contract until 2020 is awful.

I agree with this, no help for that team from us. I don't think he is an upgrade on anything we do have, so why try to after him? No thanks.
