Well to be fair, he has had a full NHL season under his belt (lockout season). I am willing to bet that he will have a better first game than any call up we've had this season, he's aware of how the NHL works. I do agree it was a bit rushed as well, but maybe management wants Granlund to get more time in the AHL.

I would say this is most likely bang on. The guy is ready for the NHL. Now's his chance to stick.

Hopefully Granlund is sent down now. Adirondack has lost Arnold to injury and now Shore too, they desperately need a center. Better to give Granlund big AHL minutes right now.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone would be happy with a rotation of scratches for the following players: Raymond, Bollig, Byron, Jones, Granlund. It's also entirely possible that Shore sits for a game or two on occasion. I'm not concerned about it as much since McGrattan was waived. Now there's 2 spots for underperforming players and even more accountability. That can only be a good thing.

It's cool having Drew on our team just for his last name alone.

I would think this recall pushes Granlund in the pressbox.
Its possible the Flames will activate Ramo and send down Granlund. Carrying three goalies on the trip.
Lines.... Granlund out / Shore in (my view)
Glencross-Monahan-Hudler;
Gaudreau-Backlund-Jones;
Bouma-Shore-Colborne;
Bollig-Stajan-Byron

Yeah Granlund is definitely close but needs another summer to get bigger and stronger before he can really make an impact. Get him down to the AHL and get some big minutes. Shore has the size and is older than most of our prospects. I hope he plays well but not expecting too much yet.
I know it might be getting rid of too many veterans but I am hoping that the Flames move the following players at the deadline:
Raymond, Glencross, Bollig, Jones, Smid
And bring up:
Sven, Porier, Granlund, Ferland, Worherspoon

Does anyone else feel that if Shore plays well, we will be seeing one of the other center's on this club traded in fairly short order?
Feel like this was a move to slightly up the quality of our center depth to make a trade from a position of strength easier to swallow.........................or I'm just looking for crap.

LOL. Does this happen often league-wide? I can't recall it happening recently with the Flames.

I've come around to Drew Shore being here... My belief is that Burke & Treliving wanted Joe Colborne to be that big #3 C, but once Hartley continued to use him as a winger they went out looking for another. We might have a lot of centre depth but none with size.

Maybe a trade is in the works , really though depending how he fits in this has to open the door to some trades with all the other guys knocking on the door.

A little surprised that they didn't make him prove his worth against our prospects on the farm, but they must already believe in him. I am sure they scouted him heavily before acquiring him.

No, the Flames in my view like the depth at the Center position.
Until Bennett is ready to take an active spot (next year my guess).
This will force a move.

im thinking Stajan is a deadline target for playoff teams.
I'm also thinking Stajan with salary retained has some good value and should get a good return.

Seems as though Drew can take a faceoff - an area in which Granlund has been struggling mightily. My money is on him playing centre, not right wing as some are suggesting. Also, not so sure Granlund gets sent down - I think they may move him to the wing instead and put Bollig or Byron in the pressbox.
Glencross - Monahan - Hudler
Gaudreau - Backlund - Jones
Granlund - Shore - Colborne
Bouma - Stajan - Byron/Bollig
If the scratch ends up being Byron - you just replaced a 5'7", 153 lbs guy with a 6'3" 205 lbs guy.

i just can't seem to shake my feeling that this guy is Aaron Gavey 2.0.
Maybe because he's a tall role player (not overly physical) who came to us from a Florida team to get his big break.
I sure hope he's able to give us more than Gavey did.

I figured Shore would have played at least one game in Adirondak before getting the call up. This isn't surprising though, Treliving seemed genuinely thrilled about getting Shore here. Hope he does well.
