UN would be useless.

Let JSOC lose for a few months. That should get you some results.

I've argued for years that the day and age of peace keeping is dead and the UN has to learn to deal with that reality.

We've entered into the age of peace enforcement.

lightly armed trooops in blue berets standing bravely between fighting sides or wagging their fingers at monsters is worthless and a waste of lives.

The UN needs to have the ability to send in heavy firepower with well armed troops and air support to force the peace, or destroy these organizations and their ability to fight.

A multinational heavy armor formation with backing artillery, supported by well armed and trained infantry formations with several squadrons of fighter bombers would be a better answer to scum like Boko Haram.

The shooters in france in this case were French Nationals . They even had a history with police and this did not stop them from a horrid act of Violence.

Keeping people in a country with out legal action when It has already been determined the are a threat on an international level of law is very short sighted.

Don't you think that this only infuriates the men detained further? Not only are they posses off at who the wanted to fight against now in their own heads there mad at their own government that kept them from fighting.

Send them to prison and accidentally run them over with a laundry truck.

Honestly, there'd be so situations where a force like that could act. You'd need all of the USA, Russia, China, etc to agree to military action. Just wouldn't happen very often. Most conflicts involve US allies fighting Russian allies. Their in the complications with China's economic interests and virtually every military operation is vetoed.

1000 years ago when someone wrote a book, it would have been to record something they thought was really important (not entertainment), considering the effort it would take and that almost everyone was illiterate. Of course that doesn't mean that what they wrote was true, but it certainly wasn't trivial like a novel would be nowadays.

I am sure in a 1000 years from now, historians will know that most of the literature from the era we are in now was for entertainment.

They're the internet North Korea for empty threats. Have they ever done anything remotely worthwhile other than your standard DDOS attacks?

Are biblical texts not the Entertainment novels ofthe past? Magic, miraculous heroes over coming over whelming oddds and myths of gods and creatures??? Seems a lot like a Harry potter novel.

They've also ruined a lot of peoples lives in similar cases when they put personal information of innocent people online during their witch hunts

Arson at German paper that reprinted Charlie Hebdo cartoons

"A German newspaper, the Hamburger Morgenpost, that reprinted the Charlie Hebdo cartoons said it suffered an arson attack overnight.

The incident happened at about 2 am local time. Unidentified people threw stones and an incendiary devices into the building housing the “Hamburger Morgenpost” tabloid newspaper in Hamburg, Germany’s second largest city."

Very courageous of the paper to reprint the cartoons. Unfortunately outside of the German papers, the Montreal dailys, and the National Post, very few have reprinted the cartoons. The fact is that these terror attacks have worked, the media has been cowed.

Or it could just be that most papers recognize that the cartoons were in bad taste to begin with. What greater good is really served by reprinting them? Printing them does nothing but taunt both the extremists and ordinary Muslims.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/paris-a...hero-1.2897075

At the kosher supermarket in Paris, a quick-thinking Muslim employee hid several Jewish shoppers in the basement before sneaking out to brief police on the hostage-taker upstairs.

In the days after the bloody end of twin French hostage crises Friday, stories of life-saving courage are beginning to filter out. One of the most striking is the story of Lassana Bathily, a young immigrant from Mali who literally provided police with the key to ending the hostage crisis at the supermarket.

Bathily was in the store's underground stockroom when gunman Amedy Coulibaly burst in upstairs, according to accounts given to French media and to a friend of Bathily's who spoke to The Associated Press. Bathily turned off the stockroom's freezer and hid a group of frightened shoppers inside before sneaking out through a fire escape to speak to police. Initially confused for the attacker, he was forced to the ground and handcuffed.

Once police realized their mistake, he provided them with the key they needed to open the supermarket's metal blinds and mount their assault.
