The troll is in, so I am out.

Night all. Hopefully we salvage one game.

Compared to our previous losing streaks in recent years, I'm quite happy with the effort out there these games. As mentioned, we appear to be losing in spite of out playing the other team. A clutch goal here, a clutch save there and we would have won most of these games.

Keep it up, pull off a miracle at Chicago on Sunday, and prepare for the home stand.

Some pride back after what I felt was a humiliating defeat last night. Barely deserved to lose this game. Played the better hockey for long periods, but just couldn't muster up enough decent efforts on goal.

Whilst they weren't the reason we lost tonight, I'd like to see how different this game might have been had the refs actually spotted all the infringements on the Pens and had they chucked Despres out of the game like they should have done. The Pens are a disgrace however. Loads of non calls added to the Smid hit and the penalties they actually got called on. Their win tonight was earned by doing the barest minimum(go 2-0 up, sit on it then pounce late in the game). They caught us at the right time, but we still gave a good account of ourselves.

Biggest concern of mine tonight was Brodie. Hartley definitely split him and Gio up after those 2 consecutive penalties he took. I wasn't expecting his Norris worthy play from the first 15-20 games to keep up. I wasn't expecting him to play well every game. But at the moment, defensively he is as big a liability as the bottom pairing for me. Good for one bad giveaway a night which usually results in a goal against.

Another concern was that Hudler seems to have totally lost his mojo at the moment. Hartley has shown that he is willing to split up almost everyone, now is the time to move Hudler around and find some different partners for Johnny. He is playing some superb hockey at the moment, but his line mates don't seem to be on his wavelength. Put him alongside Colborne and Monahan perhaps?

Agreed, but I can see the Flames losing to Chicago as well. They're playing great hockey right now and Darling has been solid. I'll say 5 straight losses and then the Flames blow the Rangers out to start a winning streak.

this isn't the end of the world, they'll be just fine.

Also to insinuate that this is on Hartley is absolutely bizarre. I honestly have no clue where that is coming from.

Can't fault the effort. Johnny Gaudreau was electric. Monahan was competing big time. Liked what I saw. Just an unfortunate narrow loss that's part of any teams game in a season. Highs and lows.

Agree, hopefully the losing streak won't reach Oiler proportions.

As for a suspension, not a chance. It will be Smid's fault. (I have no confidence in the NHL to even look at the hit.)

It makes me feel better that the whole division outside of Anaheim is in a bit of a slump.

Hiller has to stop letting those early ones in. They just kill us.

Yep, I'd be much, much more concerned if they were looking terrible and losing. As you say, it's only a play or two per game that seems to be losing them games.

If this is as bad as it gets this season I'm pretty pumped to see how the rest of the season goes. Minus the odd brain cramp, this team is light years ahead of where I thought they'd be this year. This is actually kinda fun, losing streak or not.
