Give Bennett his 9 games then send him back to junior. If the Flames make the playoffs then he can come back up and play if he's at that level without burning a year of his ELC

They can send him to get up to speed in Adirondack, no? I seem to remember this idea being kicked around earlier.

I think LA did the same with Tyler Toffoli didn't they?

Once you send him down he can't come back until Kingston season is over. Honestly I don't know how they are doing, but I think he needs to get into a ton of games so jr would be the best route. Although I could see them sending him down to Addy for a 2 week conditioning stint before making their decision.

Or Bennett can just pull a Tanner Pearson for us and come join the team in the playoffs when he's ready, win the stanley cup, and then be eligible for the Calder next season

NHL playoff games count against the ELC slide too. The only way they wouldn't burn a year is if he went to Adirondack after Kingston's season ended.

I think he can be assigned to the AHL on a 2-week conditioning stint.
I could definitely see a scenario playing out where Bennett recovers, practices with the team for a month, plays 2 weeks worth of games in the AHL and then plays his 9 games with the Flames. If we happened to make the playoffs it would be very fortuitous for him to be ready in time for the big Cup run of '14! (All nine games of it...)

Honestly, the only thing that accomplishes is to screw both Bennett and his junior team. If he's recovered, he needs to be playing games.

Kypreos and Mclean, after crapping on the Leafs for 40 minutes today, showed admiration again for the Calgary Flames.
Liked Engelland taking on Jackman (after messing with Gaudreau), mentioning Gio and Brodie and Monahan and Hartley.
Also 2 of their 3 NHL stars last night were Flames (Wideman and Hiller) the other being Bergeron in Boston.
Day by day the Flames are attracting more attention.

I am one for him going to Addy for two weeks then joining the flames for 9 games. Then see what happens. If he is performing and adding something we don't have at that point, then we keep him for a playoff run!

After the 40 game mark, I'm not sure how the 9 game stint thing works. I don't think you can just keep Bennett hanging around the Flames onces he's healthy.

Could be wrong but I think 9 games is 9 games no matter when he'd play them.

The playoffs, or how this team plays this year in general, should have no bearing on Sam Bennett's development plan. If he gets 9 games, that's fine, but he needs to go back to junior for the rest of the year no matter what. The guy needs to develop physically, and you can't force that.

What if he is too good to send back?

You can't tell that in 9 games after missing half a season. I think of it this way:
What harm can come from keeping him up? Lots of developmental/confidence issues, lack of playing time in key times, etc
What harm is there is sending him to Kingston? None

Yeah but they're just being ignorant Canadians. They are in the States for 4 days and make fun of Connecticut Women's basketball and it's coverage on ESPN. Then when an American athlete pays for the Raptors and complains about not having ESPN and seeing hours and hours of curling on TSN, they bash them for being ignorant Americans.
Don't be ignorant!
