He had one game with low minutes. He had one game with about the same number of shifts as a handful of other guys (including Jooris, who made the most of his time).

You mean 4 for 4 , as Jooris went this route too.

Okay, but I don't think he's sucked in those games. Jooris playing great with limited minutes doesn't mean another guy with the same minutes "sucked".

We're getting a little over the top here.

Both the management team, to some extent, and definitely the coaching staff, are paid very well to identify and exploit what motivates each individual player. Not everyone reacts to the same treatment in the same way. In the past there have been coaches that feel that one trick works for everybody, and if they don't get a robotic reaction, they shut down and blame the player. I don't really see Hartley and his staff taking this kind of hardline route. They are no doubt aware that Sven needs to be treated in a different way than Jooris to see results, and I don't think that they would potentially lose an asset through stubbornness or lack of desire to vary their coaching tactics.

Give it some time. Things will be tried to boost Sven's performance before there is any need to worry too much.

On the other hand, Diaz.

Gratts doesn't count. He's not sitting to study the game.

There is nothing there.
Which posts/posters have treated him like a deliquent?

Those who have questioned his character with no justification to back them up, or those who are looking too far into quotes provided by the media with no context.

That simply hasn't happened here. You mean posts from days/weeks/months ago?

So you have no actual posts that did this?

Asking if Sven has motivational issues or not liking his responses to questions is a long ways from questioning his character.

And questioning someones character is a long way from treating them like a deliquent.

So, are we allowed to discuss some of Friedman's other 29 thoughts in this thread? Cause I thought the stuff at the beginning was kind of interesting.

Even if it was true, questioning character or reading too much into quotes =/= treating him like a delinquent.

That's possible but if there's one thing we have learned about Baertschi is that he doesn't seem to take well to being sent to the AHL or sitting in the press box. While I think no player should be happy with either scenario it really seems to affect him negatively and mess with his confidence.

Yes. However you must relate them in some way to Sven.

Highest thanked post in this thread? (also happens to be the worst post in this thread)

It's already been discussed what that phrase meant. I won't bother addressing it again.

Yeah, I don't really know about this. On the one hand, I can't really say that he looked bad in either of his two games, but that is also because I barely remember seeing him play AT ALL, outside of that okay shift he had early in the first game. Like I said, it is a bit of a concern that he was so unnoticeable. I hope he gets a handful of games, and I really hope that he starts to assert himself. Otherwise, I'm not convinced he is likely to spend much more time in Calgary this season.

The kid clearly has talent as you don't score at the well over PPG pace he did in junior unless you are pretty gifted. So what is it? Is he just not as good a hockey player as we thought or does he have to mature and better handle the ups and downs of being a professional hockey player? IMO it's a little of both. He's not the first player that lit up the junior ranks and couldn't adapt to the professional game on and off the ice.
