Yeah, there's preferences, some people like bigger/smaller/more tall/short etc. but in a vacuum I'd wager the majority would pick the most physically fit mate.

The world knows and understands this and may or may not choose to market on it. If you can't accept that you're probably going to find a lot of things to complain about for the rest of your life. Seems like a pretty unhappy way to exist. If you are one of those people and would like to fight "the good fight" there's probably better fights to pick that are more worthy than the F&I girls even though my comment will just generate those same rhetorical "suggesting there's something worse to worry about doesn't mean we shouldn't fight this" responses.

No one taught me to be attracted to tight bodies and pretty faces and I don't think the Flames are doing anything wrong by having the F&I girls shovel the snow. Just like I didn't care about going to Cowboys in my late teens after ladies night and knowing there was some cheesy dudes jumping around half naked, or the bartenders there were wearing tight shirts over their budging arms and chest. Rodeo cowboys and male country stars wear the tightest fitting wranglers that have no practical purpose to wear, Tom cruise usually removes his shirt about 10 times in every movie he's ever in, ditto for any other attractive movie star. You don't hear the men complaining about the Avengers movie in which Thor and Captain America are strutting their stuff showing their chiselled bodies I'm judged for not having, and Robert Downey Jr. is looking all sexified in a suit I could never afford.
Actually you have been taught to think tight bodies are attractive. If you go back to photos of the 50s are those women less or more attractive. How about Ancient Greek art.

What was the most desirable looking female has changed over the ages so men are most definitely taught what is most attractive.

Doesn't look like they're anymore scantily clad than most girls their age. I bet Halloween really grinds some of your guy's gears.

I doubt it, what they're wearing by itself misses the point entirely.

At what point did it become a bad thing to appreciate the way women look? Or for women to wear skirts? Or dress in a uniform? Or feel sexy?

What the hell is this argument even about? Exploiting these "poor young girls"? WTF? They are paid, they wear the uniform. They aren't tits out on the ice.

I don't even know why I came back to this thread. It's an oversensitive mess in here.

Nail on the head. You really can see here that some people simply aren't happy unless they are unhappy. It can't be stressed just how short life really is for us. 70-80 years is a very, very short time on this earth. To spend a lot of that time fighting fights that are futile and nonsensical is such a waste of time. People need to look at the positives in their lives and enjoy the freedom they have with been granted in this society rather than focus on the negatives as this type of constant thinking leads to less happiness and enjoyment. There are fights and causes that are worthy and then there's stuff like this which is manifestation of negative feelings and that play a destructive role in your life.

Are you sure about that? My recollection was that the shovelling of the ice during TV timeouts started around 10 years ago with the Frank Sisson Casino Ice Crew. The benefits of the better ice conditions became noticed, and the league mandated that it be done. Then the first year that Frank Sisson was no longer a sponsor, the Flames brought in their own ice crew. I know the guys did the stuff between periods, but not during the TV timeouts.

The other thing I like about the Ice Crew is that because of the requirement to be able to skate well, we aren't getting many women applying who are of the supermodel thin body type. My guess is a lot of them have played competitive hockey or ringette. I think it's great that impressionable girls are seeing that you don't have to be super skinny to be considered attractive.

You're delusional if you don't think that what you find attractive has been heavily conditioned by Western standards of beauty.

This is only true if you take the internet and the muppets on it seriously.

So who gets to decide which causes are worthwhile? I'm generally of the opinion that maybe those who already enjoy the maximum amount of freedom and privilege shouldn't really be dictating such things.

Sorry buddy, one of my teeth grinders for me. When people give me the whole "Life is short" thing, I shake my head and thing "Life is the longest thing you're ever going to do"

I'll ask again: Then why shouldn't the girls who serve popcorn and hot dogs wear bikini tops? After all, a lot of guys would enjoy that.

That doesn't describe my own experiences at NHL arenas. Maybe a third of the attendees are guys jacked up on testosterone and beer. The rest are guys there with wives and girlfriends. Dads with kids. Teenagers given tickets by their parents. Old guys listening to the game on the radio while they watch. And lots and lots of corporate types - men and women - there with co-workers and clients.

Once the team moves into a new arena, Flames games will be even more corporate. That's probably when they'll abandon the ice girls thing. You don't see too many corporate events held at Hooters.

Maybe not Hooters but there are plenty of corporate events and gatherings that are held at various bars, restaurants and casinos with waitresses that sometimes wear skirts similar to the F&I girls and almost always show more cleavage.

You could be right. I thought it started off with the regular ice crew doing it though.

I got a PM from another poster mentioning that one of the regular ice crew members is a female in a tracksuit.

If the Fire on Ice girls have the option to not wear the tight shirts and skirts, it's not sexist.

They don't. It's the uniform.

The lady on the ice crew who wears the track suit is not part of the Big Country Ice Crew, she is part of the Flames organization that works on the ice.
