One of the construction workers that witnessed the shooting was interviewed this morning on CBC and stated that it was an Islamic symbol on his scarf/garb. Take it for what it's worth.

That construction worker was very specific and called it a double barrel shotgun and also confirmed a shotgun and not a rifle.

Yes it is, but you go through security screening to get in.

At least the few times I've been you had to.

And there is always a couple of RCMP stationed at the entrance.

Due to the events happening in Ottawa the ODMHA (Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association) has cancelled ALL hockey in the district for Oct 22nd, 2014. This means ALL games, practices, clinics, etc.

Unless otherwise notified, hockey will resume on Thursday Oct 23rd.

Sounds like security at Parliament were incredibly swift in subduing the gunman. Its hard for me to comprehend what the family of the fallen soldier standing guard at War Memorial is feeling, my thoughts are with them.

I think this could have gotten much more out of hand if not for the brave actions of the security personnel at Parliament.
