Did you leap for joy at the end of the game that Backlund had no points? The fact that this is the only comment you have about the game goes to prove that you are troubled. Further more when Backlund has a great game or string of games you will disapear. You are the definition of a troll. I don't get pissed about it anymore, instead I just feel sorry for you.

Honestly, the pro-backs rhetoric has been disturbing for a long time. There are several posters on this thread who recognize he had a bad game.
I have never disappeared, when backs went on the "great tear" of last season, I was here? Of course that goes back to my previous point about scoring when it's needed vs. playing out the string.
Score face had a good game tonight, he drove the play. He didn't lose key face offs late in the game. But, I digress

Just a little note on the fridge here but that's probably because he's a left winger.

Glencross and Backlund both underperformed. They had good moments, but good moments are not enough. It needs to be a full consistent game of playing all 200 feet like they give a ####.
Consistency will be so key this season, where if we're caught not playing at our best, we're gonna get burnt.

Backlund got better as the game went on. I thought he was quite dangerous a few rushes and got stronger as the game went on. Compared to some others, Backlund did not have a weak game IMO.

I want to defend Wideman, but we can't have him playing this terrible that often. We really need to part ways soon.

Thought Hiller, Byron, Gaudreau, Bollig, Gio, Russell were good.
Thought Wideman, Raymond, Glencross, Colborne were bad.
Everyone else was either invisible or mediocre, in my opinion.

Definitely an improvement on the total ####kicking they usually give us. They were just a tiny bit better, but that's what you get with a team of veterans. They'll get their wins against lower quality competition but they definitely are not in the same league as the Blackhawks/Kings/Ducks. Take this one and reset for the Oilers. Hiller was in no means terrible tonight but for some reason I feel more comfortable when Ramo's in. Hopefully Monahan has more energy and I hope Colborne is shifted back to wing. Byron and Johnny looked good but Colborne did not help his linemates out. Didn't think Glencross was bad tonight except for his "classic Glencross" take a bad penalty at the worse time. All of the D looked acceptable except for Wideman and I have been a big Wideman supporter. Really hope he can get his #### together.

Backlund probably gets a pass for the first few games since he missed so much action in training camp. Let's see how he looks in two weeks.
*EDIT*
Oh, and Where ru Chris O'Sullivan, you are hilarious. That first post of yours was easily the post of the night.

So intense. The lines were not formed at all. I saw Monahan out on the fourth line, I saw Backlund out on the fourth line, I saw Gaudreau out on the 4th line. There was zero consistency. This was the most frustrating part for me was the coaching of this game. How could anyone get anything going.
Stajan was missing half of the game.
I am going to say as confused as the players looked out there for half of the periods, it was just strange linemanship. I was confused. They should have been more prepared from that point of view.

Good: Gaudreau was damn impressive advance statwise. He had 13 zone entries, 7 of which were controlled carry-ins which led the team by a large margin.
His even strength play was also quite excellent.
Monahan's overall play was decent, he looked better at evens this game than most games last year, but he still wasn't great.
Hudler: Holy crap, he was the best forward out there tonight.
Brodie and Giordano were absolutely dominant. They will be the Flames only saving grace this season as long as they stay healthy.
Bollig did quite well for his zone starts and quality of competition (bottom 6). He broke even at even strength, which is all you can ask of a 4th liner of his ilk.
Bad: Engelland, Wideman, Smid are hot garbage. The sooner they are off the team, the better (after McDavid maybe?) Can't win with those three on the back end bleeding shots against and giving away the puck with horrible regularity.
McGrattan was useless. Not as useless as Engelland, but pretty damn close.
Colborne should never be a center ever again, and never against better than bottom 6 competition. He was horrid. Like, career AHLer horrid.
Decent: Backlund looked bad through two periods, but after a short benching, he actually picked it up and ended up being quite high on the possession metrics by the end of the game. He's probably still rusty.
Russell was ok, he was probably dragged down quite a bit by the boat anchor he was carrying around as his D partner.
Raymond looked ok, but by possession stats he was pretty terrible.
Glencross was meh. People complain about his penalties, but the guy averages less than 1 penalty every 4 games. He isn't as bad as everyone says. And he led the team in SOG.
The rest of the team was ok.
I must say again, just cause, the Smid-Wideman pairing should never see the ice, ever, again.

I feel that this could be a good photoshop candidate for Backs.

64 points probably gets us to a connor mcdavid or jack eichel so we need to lose a 100 points this season.
2/100 gone. we are 2% of the way there.

For the record, I posted "2 McDavid points" on the first page.
I'm always hoping for the "w". It's got to be all about pride the whole way. However, if we're being real, we have a bottom 5 roster by all accounts. With that said, in the disappointing aftermath of those nights where we don't pick up the win, I prefer looking at it as "picking up McDavid points" as opposed to just losing.
In a way, this season is win win... and it's going to be a long, long season, so people should just enjoy the hockey in any way they can. That is, after all, what it's all about.

Also, on an unrelated note... as much as it sucks losing to this character-less bunch of divers and whiners, there is some solace.
Last season, they beat us every game. If you look at those points, that was the difference between them picking at 6, and getting Dal Colle or possibly even a Bennett.
I hope these two points come back to haunt them at the end of this season as well. Hopefully they'll hover just outside the playoff race and be two points better than one of the last blue chippers in the top end of the draft.
Helping Vancouver linger in purgatory while we pick up elite prospects is some small solace in these dark times.

Bugs me that I can't stay up to watch these late games. I am getting so old...
Oh well, can only improve from here.

Say what you will about the goons, if our first line hustled like our fourth line did last night, we walk out with two points.
Otherwise, nothing much else to add that hasn't already been said. Canuck fans in our area were surprisingly decent. Guess their embarrassing season last year calmed them down a little.

Colborne should be moved back to the wing. He plays better there.
Gaudreau needs a better center than Colborne. Put JG with Monahan.
