I'm actually a litle skeptical of a Roy/Kanzig pairing. Roy is known to be a liability in his own end and Kanzig for all the love I have for him, last I checked his mobility was still limited(not that his skating is terrible, just over all big man on skates lateral mobility and such).
Although to be fair I am very curious to see how each has improved. Maybe it is a good pairing. Roy should be a boost offensively. Is Roy the most offensively gifted D man in the system?

I had such high hope that he would turn into a monster for this organization.......

There was something about Breen I just didn't like, he seemed so "laid back" and it seemed as though he thought that just having size was good enough. He never looked like the guy who was always trying to improve the way Kanzig is.
Speaking of that, any idea how Kanzig did or what his numbers were at the work out?

How that is even possible, I'm not sure.

No chance at the 5% bodyfat, he would make a pretty crappy hockey player. 10% - 15% would be the sweet spot.

pretty sure last year he did come in with an uber low body fat and I think that actually hurt him in the long run. I agree that 10-15% would be ideal and I think he's been working on more of his game and not so much of the fitness part of things and that's why I'm excited about him.

reportedly Jack Eichel is around 5% body fat and he is challenging McDavid for 1st overall in next year's draft

For sprint yes, for hockey no. Even at 10% the muscle would take so much abuse during hits, fatigue would set in relatively fast, whereas some visible fat would reduce damage and provide fuel.

I'm betting, based on Treliving's press clips, that its an absolute long-shot barring a slew of unforeseen injuries.

Fedor and Cain Velasquez, 2 mma fighters, have 15-20% bodyfat and have endless cardio over their 7-8% bf opponents. It's going to effect each person differently depending on bodytype and how they train. An endomorph with low bodyfat % will get tired quick and an ectomorph with high bodyfat% will get tired quickly, atleast that's how it seems based on my observance.

The average body fat percentage of an NHL player is around 9 percent.
The reason being is that lower BFP is directly correlated to quicker recovery time.
Anyone over 10.5 or 11 is probably in the "fat club" and given a pretty strict diet and additional training program to get it down.

Did Arnold lose any more weight over the summer? He was noticeably quicker at development camp.

15% is too high for hockey.
A test done on an unnamed team had the average at 9.2%. It appears this was from 1988, and they were looking to compare defensemen and forwards.
"There were no significant differences between player positions in height or percentage of body fat (9.2 +/- 0.9%)."

ok, 15% may be high but he was at like 7 so I don't think he would go that high. Even if he went up to the 10% ish or so it would be great.
Lets not turn this into a body fat argument or I'll feel even worse about my body lol.
I just want to see what Kanzig can do and I hope he becomes one of our top defenders in the future.
