Psst... you don't know what you're talking about. Sony isn't 'remastering' GTA V, Rockstar is and they're doing it on both platforms.

I feel silly for asking this question, because I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but is the kinect worth the extra $100?
Are there actually going to be any worthwhile games released that utilize it, or is going to be supporting rip-offs of wii sports for its entire existence?
I have an xbox one with the kinect and I would say the extra $100 is worth it. Pretty cool walking into your living room and having the kinect recognize you and sign you in to your gamer tag. Kinect Sports rivals is pretty good too and I would expect more titles coming this year. It's also really useful for Skype and Xbox Fitness.

Skype. I can't believe I forgot Skype considering we us it all the time on the xbox one. Camera gives a wide enough view to see the entire room which is great for young kids who won't sit still. It also follows who is talking and zooms in on them.

I bought Ryse when I first got the console (digital download) and completely forgot I had it! Started playing it last night. Straight forward button mashing fun.

Ryse is this generation's prime example of graphics over gameplay.

Reminds me of The Bouncer on PS2.

Ryse is a stunner. I always wondered why MS didn't use those graphics to move more Xbox One's. Put that game on demo at an Xbox kiosk in retailers and people would be floored. I suppose its probably too violent for that.

Also I think its a much better game than people gave it credit for. Not a masterpiece but I quite enjoyed it. Without that game there was no reason to buy a next gen system, it was probably the only launch title to demonstrate real next gen graphics on Xbox.

LOL you don't have an XB1 so how would you know? As many have said the reviews simply don't do the game justice as most people that played it found it enjoyable. It's a fun game and while the gameplay isn't revolutionary it's not like any of the next gen games to date have done anything new. At the end of the day it's all about fun and to me this game was much more fun that Killzone and COD.

Have you even played it? I realize its not for everyone but it is actually a pretty fun button masher. I enjoyed it, story was decent too.

If you want to talk graphics over gameplay, KZ Shawdowfall, now that was a complete disappointment to me. Pretty, but thats about it. The nausea inducing multiplayer was icing on the cake..lol

Speaking of Killzone.. anyone see this?

Every Crytek game ever made has been graphics over gameplay. Hence why the studio is bankrupt and likely closing. Always spend too much money on tech and not enough on making a game people actually want to play.

I haven't played Ryse but don't really feel like I need to. Watched a lot of videos of it around E3 time, read the reviews, read what people have said about it.

To be equally critical of a Sony title, The Order: 1886 is (so far) the PS4 equivalent. Insanely good looking graphics, but the game just looks like a bore and perpetuates gameplay ideas that went out of favor half-way through last generation (notably, quick time events).

I'm all set for buying a PS4 tomorrow. Going to take advantage of Shoppers Drug Mart's 20x the points that applies tomorrow only.

$450 for the regular console (no The Last of Us included), however I'll earn $170 immediately in points which I use to grab some controllers later.

Seems like the best deal in Canada.

However its difficult to find a Shoppers in Calgary that A) has any PS4s, and B) any games or controllers.

Hoping Sunset Overdrive comes to the PC. Not sure if Insomniac owns the IP but I think they do.

I could be entirely wrong, but I remember seeing Playstations at the Chinook Centre Shoppers a few days ago. Problem is, I can't remember if those were PS4s or PS3s.

There is a lot wrong with the game and the reviews/previews etc pointed it all out. But all that stuff forgot one important thing....the game is simply fun to play. And honestly the people I know that have played it agree. I think it's honestly a game that the review scores should be much higher. Many of them are and then you run into the stupid scores of 30/100 which quite simply doesn't make a lick of sense. It's a solid 7 to 8/10 IMO. Certainly a worthwhile play.

Yes, they do. I'd imagine it could very well come at some point. If you're launching a new IP, you'd likely want to get it out to as many eyeballs as you can.

It's fun enough certainly in small bursts, with the QTE overload I've only done it in small bursts of maybe 20-30 minutes and set it aside for a while. I'd imagine a lot of poor reviewers had to plow through the game in a few sittings to meet their original deadlines and you can't really play that game for long without getting grinded down. At least in IMO.

As to the above, interesting interview with Crytek today as well (below). I'd imagine with the console sales disparity, exclusivity deals are likely to cost Microsoft increasingly more cash with them behind and the gap continuing to growing.

http://www.totalxbox.com/80183/ryse-...ssures-crytek/

The game had an uneven development, beginning life as a first-person Kinect experience for Xbox 360, before gravitating to Xbox One as a third-person hack 'n' slasher with extensive, but optional Kinect features. It was treated to mixed reviews, with OXM's 7/10 one of the friendlier verdicts. Crytek is, however, proud of its achievement and feels there's scope for a (possibly multi-platform) sequel, once next generation consoles sell enough to support one.

"Our goal always was for Ryse to be at the forefront of a next-generation console launch, which we have done," he said. "Ryse has received tremendous promotion and IP awareness. And Ryse is our IP. We do what we want to do with the future of Ryse. This is important."

We are not 100 per cent happy with Xbox One sales right now. So we want to wait till the current gen and next gen catches up.

"For Ryse 2, we aren't saying it's cancelled. It's our IP. It just has to wait for the right timing. And the right timing means higher installed base across next-gen."

The gaming community is still very fanboy biased and that goes for reviewers and gaming sites. Reviewing games is never cut and dried like reviewing movies because of the various platforms and fanboyism. IMO exclusive titles in particular tend to get better reviews from many sites because it's easier to criticize a multiplatform game as you don't have to deal with rabid fanbase of a certain console or upset Sony or Microsoft. How many 9.5 to perfect 10 scores has IGN handed out for Sony exclusives? Way, way too many.

I believe lots of game reviewers were on the anti-Microsoft bandwagon this time last year because DRM seemed to really hit the nerves of a lot of them and were looking at any and all negatives to the point where things snowballed and XB1 simply wasn't going to get the benefit of the doubt in hardware or software reviews. Ryse was a victim of that. There is really no other way you can explain the low scores of Ryse as it's as good or better as a whole than a lot of games that have averaged 8/10 scores on Metacritic yet it got scores that are typically reserved for unplayable garbage.

6 - MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and The Last of Us. Hard to argue with most of those, with Resistance 2 being the only real outlier.

For comparison sake, there were 5 Xbox 360 games ranked 9.5 or higher: Halo 3, Reach, and 4, as well as Gears of War 2 and Forza 4.

Not quite the sweeping Sony bias you claim exists.

Forza/Titanfall got crazy high scores...I wouldn't assume some anti-microsoft bias the game is just not that good. Obviously the 3-10s are too low but the game is a 6 tops it looks nice but thats about it. My opinion that many people share. When games actually start coming to the system it will be long forgotten.

the big money games usually get high scores from the usual suspects...go figure

Call of Duty re-used cut scenes from previous games and still got 8s and 9s

if IGN is biased what do you call Polygon? those guys are bought and paid for

At the end of the day Gamespot is the only reviewers you can truly trust but it's a shame their site has become such a train wreck to navigate. They tend to review games lower than all the other sites and reserve the 9.5's for the truly great games.
