I won't watch Saturday's game because quite simply I don't give a damn or could care less about it. It is, quite simply, a nothing game.
And just from the small sample size of my friends I consider myself the norm as opposed to the exception.

I've watched the last three.....

That game would be so weird, two teams that hate each other playing in a game they don't want to.

Personal anecdotes are of course lovely, but for example in 2010 the 3rd place match had the 14th highest audience of that tournament, higher than 2 of the quarter-final games and 4 of the group of 16 games.
This is from what I've understood pretty typical. Sure, it's not the biggest game of the tournament, but still up there with the playoff rounds. 200+ million viewers is nothing to sneeze at.
Whether or not people "care" is impossible to say decisively. The German and Uruguay players absolutely looked like they cared in that game. Just like the Germans and the Portuguese looked like they cared in 2006, and the Turkish and the Koreans looked like they cared in 2002.

The Koreans had to care in 2002 because they were a small team playing at home and wanted to achieve the unachievable . But they really shouldn't have cared because those players had nothing left as you can see by the great Hong Myung bo making a mistake 4 seconds into the game.

I'm talking generally accepted World Cup classic moments. You know, the kind of list that gets produced every 4 years and TV programmes made about it.
Please show me some evidence that at least someone other than you rates it as amongst their most memorable World Cup moments ever.
Or any 3rd place playoff game. I'm not fussy.

They got to that point because the refs and linesman let them.
That tournament still pisses me off, so much favorable reffing for Korea.

That was the corner.
Luiz lost his man while marking, that was on him.
