Asking for a trade. When he came out to the media last year and said that it wasn't true, he was saying the same thing in the dressing room.

He had a good run in 2011, but otherwise, Kesler has been quite pedestrian in the postseason and international competition. If this is what Anaheim thinks will put them over the top, then pencil me in as a fan of the Kings going to the final again.

Bonino won't have the success with the Nucks that he did with the Ducks. That team is going into hot garbage mode in a hurry.
Sibsa is a decent bottom pairing guy, but not much else, he came into the league with a bunch of hype and never lived up to it.
The Canucks are basically throwing turds in the air now and seeing where they land.

Cripes.
One good season from Bonino playing with top end offensive talent. Check out what he did before that…diddley squat. He's at best a 3rd line forward which is not bad considering he was a 6th round pick.
Sbisa has always been labelled as "promising" but has consistently fallen flat in the NHL. The only good thing is that he's got good size and is still young enough to figure it out, but I don't see him as much more than a 2nd pairing average defenseman.
Kesler is done because he lost a year to injuries??? Don't make me laugh. He's still a great player who scored 25 goals last year but didn't have many assists because he had nobody to give the puck to. Those 25 goals are still above his career average of 22 goals per 82 games. He's great defensively, physical, and does pretty well on the dot. He's going to give Getzlaf and Perry more room to work with since there will be another line to worry about.
The only saving grace is they got a 1st round pick (even if it is a later one).
Make no mistake about it, Anaheim completely fleeced Vancouver, and I'm ok with that.

Not sure if a repeat interview, but on the pre-draft show, in Kesler's interview, he threw Vancouver under the bus.
-I hate losing and last year was painful
-They are years away from contending and are in a rebuild, I'm looking to win now
-Glad to be gone and I can move on.

Ryan Kesler: "I didn't ask for a trade. It's best to keep that in house. Not going to comment — it's not right."
"I want to win a championship, and I want to win it now, not in 4 years."
"it was time for me to move on.”
“Last year, that season was tough on all players that played for the Canucks…that season was painful to be honest,”
you can listen here
http://www.sportstalkflorida.com/duc...sler-time-move
he didn't throw anyone under the bus, saying the Canucks are not contenders isn't a shot at anyone, it's a fact

Not that far out of context
“I hate losing and that season was painful, to be honest,” he said on a conference call. “The fact that they’re in a rebuild and are looking to get younger and are years away from being a contender, I think it was just time for me to move on and win and hopefully take home a championship.”

Sounds to me that he wants to win now and then cash in as a UFA and mail the remainder of his career in.

I think he made the wrong call with Anaheim though
to me they are a prime candidate for regression next year

So many good teams in the west that it is a crap shoot to see who emerges from the WCF. It looks like Anaheim is going into the season with some pretty green goaltenders, could be tough.

Kessler showed his true colours in the conference call... The team is showing signs of sucking, so time to bail.
Hey Ryan, how about honouring your contract and commitment you made to the team, or at least not completely handcuff them with the no trade.
Van gets addition by subtraction, which sucks, coz I'd rather that cancer stays in their room.

Who the hell is gonna score for the Canucks? Sedin, Sedin, and?
now they are trading picks for players with one year left on their deals

Isn't it obvious? JB and Linden going hard for McDavid/Eichel sweepstakes.

if thats the case trade strictly for picks/prospects
YOUNG PLAYERS
not a guy 3 years younger than Kesler who has played one full season in the NHL

Haven't Read the threads, but I actually think Vancouver won all 3 trades.
Would love Dorrset on the Flames, would give up a late 3rd for that guy in a second. Maybe something is wrong because he's already been traded twice in his young career. But he seems like a young Ott/Clowe type player to me.
Garrisson was an Anchor so it was a prospect and a 7th for a 2nd great deal.
And I don't get people thinking it was a small return for Kessler, imagine if we gave up Backlund, Russell and Klimchuk for Kessler this place would explode. And I think that is pretty close to what Anaheim gave up.
Hate to say it was good day for Vancouver avoiding the fall we have taken.

talk about selling low... the Nicks season was absolutely horrific on every front. everybody's stats were depressed. Players asking for trades, leaving management hooped.
The result, trading their best player for spare parts.
Stop and think about the Nuck's lineup next year... Bonino probably centres the 2nd line with Burrows and ?? What are the chances that he can do anything to endear himself to fans? Having to fill Kesler's shoes.
He gets run out of town in less than 2 years IMO.
Kesler will be rubbing it in Vancouvers' faces and Bonino will be a lightning rod.
Brutal trade for the Nucks. Good times ahead!
Edit" but there's always "never saw myself ever being a Vancouver Canuck... Oh well, it is what it is I guess" McCann

are you kidding? If the Flames were cup contenders and had Getzlaf and Perry, and we could get Kesler for that package, I do it every single time.
