Last thing I heard prior to it going offline was there was a location for a suspect sighting.

Hopefully this plays out like the Boston suspect capture. I believe they also had a press conference, suddenly shut down the scanner and then when it did come back up it was him surrounded and taken down shortly after.

I heard that too, but I believe they later confirmed that it wasn't him-- it was an RCMP member.

If this guy pops up again in another location a distance away and kills more people, this is going to look exceptionally bad on the ERT there.

How did they lose him or have information that he was in the building so wrong?

I heard the same thing (guy in camo behind a petro can with a gun) they later said it was a member of law enforcement (ERT). They also said that someone heard a single shot fired in another part of the city, which they were going to check out.

People are so worried now there is bound to be a lot of overreactions, though.

Wow my heart goes out to all involved and my Canadian brothers and sisters up north. Something so senseless shouldn't ever happen, I hope they catch the man and he lives a terrible crappy life in that cell.

He shouldn't be killed because he needs to stand up in court for his crimes, also we cant expect our police forces to shoot to kill just because what if someone is falsely identified and killed because some police officer has a itchy trigger finger.

I hope they catch him soon!

Did you listen to the police scanner during the Boston bombing manhunt? There were getting countless false leads from people. It was crazy. Hard to fault the police for following what seems like a good tip that doesn't pan out.

One of the RCMP victims identified by family. Was a K-9 handler, young guy with a wife, young child and another on the way in September. So sad.
