I would disagree for two reasons. One, it lead the way for a control stick design on a controller. Before then it was joy/flight-sticks or bust, essentially. Sony would follow with replacing the PS1 controller with the Dual Shock after the N64 came out. Obviously the stick design wasn't great, as it wasn't very sensitive and became loose/broken pretty easily. Two, they successfully made a controller that felt pretty comfortable in using the D-Pad or the Control Stick separately. Clearly, this separated the two from functioning as a whole, but it really was nice to use the control for a sole purpose than stretching to rest on the control sticks of many other controllers up to this date.
Personally I never liked the original Xbox controller. Too big, the white and black buttons felt useless, and just overall a clunky design. The S design fixed a lot of that, and the 360 controller obviously is one of the best (minus the awful D-Pad).

Since you bring up the D-pad it was bad but the D-pad has been reduced essentially to a change weapon or some other sort of function mapping button and is rarely used for control anymore outside of fighting games which aren't a big part of the market anymore. You could almost turn it into another four buttons essentially although that may not be as intuitive if you are say cycling through weapons or menus.

Microsoft had all their studios focus on kinect games
its been talked about everywhere, gaming sites, reviews on the run, industry magazines
there is a big chart I posted earlier...microsoft has like 10 non-kinect exclusives over 4 years, PS3 has dominated during that period

There's plenty of games that (unfortunately) used the D-Pad heavily on XBox Live Arcade, so I would have to adjust to using the control stick instead, which wasn't a great compromise. Even for weapon switching in the shooter-de-jour, it wasn't unusual to press up or down and get left or right instead.
It became even more apparent to me when I started using the 360 controller on my PC.

PS4 has already hit profitability compared to the PS3 which took 4 years to get to that point. It is already surpassed PS2 at the same point in it's lifetime.
Quote:
Speaking today at a corporate strategy meeting, Sony president Kaz Hirai said that the PlayStation 4 is "already contributing a profit on a hardware unit basis."
Reported by Japanese site AV Watch (via NeoGaf), a Sony representative provided GameSpot a translation for one of Hirai's most interesting statements from the meeting. "From a profitability perspective," Hirai said, "PS4 is also already contributing profit on a hardware unit basis, establishing a very different business framework from that of previous platform businesses." It's a slightly roundabout quote, but that statement essentially says that the PS4 is already profitable, unlike previous console generations that are typically sold at a loss for their first few years.

It gets made fun of but the good games on that system are starting to pile up, personally think it is a better system than the Wii was in terms of good software coming out for the system.
I bought one for $150 when they discontinued the basic system and I have no regrets. Worth it to play 3D Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong.

Wii U is a good system...it offers something different and Nintendo knows how to make fun games.
Should have called the thing Wii HD, dropped the tablet, and just have it use Wii motes/pro controller
$199 sale price
still good system with good games

Ninty first party games have always been absolutely top notch. If only they thought up of better ways to design their systems to be more appealing to third party devs.
Is the price drop permanent? $199 seems like a great deal

I think you misread his post. It was an idea of removing the gamepad and using a pro controller instead, which would allow them to sell it at $199 perhaps.

I have had my Wii U since Friday. I don't think I've had as much fun all over my house. Ditching the game pad would be ridiculous. It's what makes this system so awesome. No interruptions anymore. Girlfriend wants the tv? ####ing have it! Girlfriend wants to watch a movie? Go for it. I want to watch the Jays while unlocking karts and parts? DONE! The game pad is what makes this console so awesome. Next Gen Nintendo games on a DS? #### yeah!
Mario Kart its self is absolutely wonderful. The fact I got a free copy of Windwaker with it is awesome on top of awesome. I am building a layered awesome cake with my Wii U. Also: Earthbound.

It was just an idea of what I think would have made the system more popular...no tablet, lower price, better name/marketing
Honestly I think the tablet is kinda cool but it drives the price up

The Xbox One update has enabled the use of the One Guide in Canada. Its a pretty neat feature, I'm watching the hockey game and to go to the channel I just said, Xbox watch CBC and it worked.
If you have a shaw gateway make sure to set it up as the manufacturer brand (Arris) not "Shaw".

I am absolutely loving my Wii U. I've had it for about 5 months now. Super Mario Bros, Tropical Freeze, 3D World, Mario Kart and Windwaker are the only games I own right now and they're all outstanding. They take longer to master than you'd think.
I've also utilized Netflix on the gamepad quite a bit.
I highly encourage everyone to go get one. I mean, c'mon, for $300 you can get a 32G Wii U with Mario Kart. It's a no brainer guys.
