I suspect we are in serious talks to get an additional top10 pick.

I can see it now, Richie patrolling the wing on the first line for Marcus Granlund. |
If I am wrong and both those guys become legitimately good enough to play those positions, I'll be thrilled.

If they take Ritchie, I'll just be hoping that I am wrong, like I did when we took Nemisz in 08. At least with Ritchie, I think he'll be an NHLer, more than what I thought of Nemisz. The two players on the bottom of my list back then were Nemo and Mitch Wahl of the guys rated in the top 50. My feelings when we picked them both .

I won't be disappointed if they take any of the top 4 + Dal Colle/Ehlers.

Uhh...no.

Rielly is a great talent but there are players from that draft who have shown more.

I think you are bang on based on what Burke said at the luncheon I was at.

Put me in the "this should just mean they're doing due diligence, and does not mean they've done it and concluded that 5-8 are about equal to 4" crowd.

I don't care who's picked, they just better pan out and be an everyday NHLer! Let's not select another Kris Chucko, John Armstrong, Greg Nemisz, Tim Erixon, Mitch Wahl or Matt Pelech. Those selections are as the kids call it EPIC FAILS!

Surprised he couldn't even do one though. Is it like very technical requirements or what? None of that crossfit "kipping" pullup BS obviously.

I think with comments you have to look at the context. This is a NHL blog spot entry from Todd Button. It isn't a team season ticket holder meeting, or a candid Fan 960 interview with Rob Kerr.
it's meant to be generic, and vague, and have lots of scouting words in it.

The other day Conroy was on in the morning, and with Conroy you get Conroy ... he empties his head.

His view? "I have a guy, and Brad has a guy. If we get my guy I'm pretty excited, but if we get Brad's guy I'll be pretty happy too"

(not a quote, but a general idea)

Sounds to me they have two of the big four they are crossing their fingers for.

While i am a bit surprised Bennett couldn't even do one pull up, I'm not at all surprised by his lack of strength. He is expected to not be NHL ready and to go back to junior for another season to build up strength.

Yeah, Bennett probably won't be in the NHL for 2 or 3 years.

Trouba is head and shoulders above him at this point. He is a dman who has better offensive abilities and he actually knows how to play defence.
