The reaction to that play from some here was amusing - or perhaps more accurate was embarrassing. A loose puck behind the net that Subban was clearly getting to and possibly/likely clearing from the zone - instead resulted was a faceoff in their own end - a worst case scenario for the Habs. Subban is occasionally a nightmare in his own end - this was an example of that.
Now had the Bruins control, and/or a scoring chance...
You mean like when the puck wasn't cleared and Boston had a shot coming from the point with traffic in front with less than 10 seconds remaining, but it never happened because the net wasn't in place?

The play went on for about another 3 seconds after the net was off. Had the ref blown the play dead before there was a shot opportunity coming would people be complaining? Probably not, you take a draw in the opponents end and say thanks for the bad play Subban.
The only reason there was an opportunity of a shot from the point is because the refs didn't blow the play dead when the net came off. If they blow it dead when they should have it would have been right as Subban was shooting the puck around the boards, before any scoring chance (slim as it was) materialized.
I really didn't know there was so much hate for Montreal on CP, it's kind of funny.
Seems like some of you are letting it cloud your judgement though.
Not really as we have seen this before from this franchise. This run isn't unlike their last one when they rode a hot Halak to the 3rd round. Riding a hot goaltender while getting outplayed most nights will only take you so far in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Not talking about them riding Price (and to an extent Subban) since there is no disputing that, I'm more talking about the whining and complaining about the refs.

Well it's not as blatant as the biased officiating the Wings typically get but going back to the Lightning series it's hard to argue that the Habs haven't got more than a few breaks from the officials. It's not the only reason for their success but every little advantage helps in the playoffs.

Just seems like it's turning into a reverse Canucks complex. The Canucks think the ref is out to get them, and anti-Canadiens fans think the ref is in their pocket.

Nope. Not at all. Truth is, Habs suck and so do their fans.

Thats the thing though.
If Montreal can slay the dragon and beat Boston, I don't see Pittsburgh or NY as being that much better.
The habs could make it to the cup final to be disposed of in 5 by whom ever gets out of the west.
All my pools predictions are gone if this happens but oh well...

Actually, the worst case scenario for the Habs would have been a penalty shot. Just sayin'
Oh, and...

There was more than reasonable doubt created on this play in the referee's judgment (and mine) that PK Subban did not deliberately displace the goal post in his effort to gain possession of the puck behind the Montreal net.
I don't care who is yawning or how many people value whoever's opinion; Subban knocked the net off on purpose. He hasn't bumped the net accidentally since he was five years old. Give me a break.
