thats what I'm wondering...or did someone on this site just say box cutter because I don't think I have heard that anywhere else

A kitchen knife is not designed to kill people either.

As above it is possible, but seeming he didn't use it it is also easy to imagine that he had no intent when he arrived at the party. Though I guess with the deleting of social media stuff it does smell a little funny.

Of course not, at least not a rational person would think that. But it's possible that he just wanted to inflict the most damage possible, whether it be inflicting serious (but non life threatening injuries) with the boxcutter, or actually killing people. So maybe his intention changed when he found the knife in the house? Or he knew the box cutter wouldn't work for what he had planned in such a crowded environment.

We still don't know why he was even there. Some reports say he knew the victims, while others say he didn't. It's difficult to make theories or assumptions without knowing more about any connections he had, but I just believe he had something planned for that night; maybe not murder, but surely something tragic.

Maybe he brought the boxcutter as sort of his endgame, and he originally intended to commit suicide instead of being caught? But he was unable to go through with it by the time the police caught up with him. Again I hate to throw out random theories, but the father did say his son had suicidal tendencies, so he could have brought the second knife along for another reason altogether.

its easy to imagine something you are trying hard to imagine...some of you are really reaching here.

deleted facebook posts randomly, brought weapon to party by accident, father was out looking for him worried about his mental state.

I don't have all the facts but it seems to be becoming more and more clear

and the murder weapon, as mentioned earlier, was found in a gutter, a distance away from the murder.

shows he had the intelligence to know what he did was wrong and attempted to cover up the evidence

I still cant believe there's people out there who's feeling sorry or empathy for the suspect.

I guess if I ever commit murder, the best thing to do to get out of it and to win sympathy points is to murder 4 more

Unbelievable...

True, but in this case I think it's fair to call it a weapon since it was actually used as one. But like with a boxcutter, I don't consider a kitchen knife to automatically be a weapon either (unless someone brought one somewhere where you wouldn't realistically expect it). A boxcutter after work for someone that works at Safeway would not be too out of the ordinary I would think.

would have to be an awfully bad coincidence to accidentally bring a weapon to a party the same night you black out and murder 5 people

reasonable doubt guys

where did this box cutter thing come from? reliable source or CP?

Meh whether he actually planned it or not,I think he is an idiot and should spend a very long time in either a mental institution or jail. I really don't have any idea whether he planned it or not just like anyone else.

I don't remember anything mentioned about boxcutters, just that Matt brought an "object" to the house.

I have no problem with him mentioning it as a possibility, just saying its HIGHLY unlikely he accidentally brought a weapon to the party again what a terrible coincidence that would be

Didn't say it made a difference, just said he deserves a long period Locked away either way. And I agree it does make a huge difference.

I read an article that said it was a boxcutter that he brought from the produce department at safeway, don't know the accuracy of that article but I definitely read it.

EDIT: It may have been this article, which just alleges it, no confirmation:

Quote:
“In fact he arrived at the party wearing his smock ....”

It’s alleged the accused also brought a box cutter to the home, though Hanson would not say whether a box cutter was used in the crime.
