Regardless of whether or not it's at 960 or elsewhere, Rob Kerr is going back to radio. His next job will be a 'lesser role' from 'television voice of NHL franchise'.
Radio is his first, best gift. It is what he is ideally suited for. And he would go back, much like Loubo did, because he loves this city and he ADORES this team.

Had the chance to sit next to Rob for a couple of pre-season games this year. Great guy. Hope he lands on his feet.

I like Brad Curle
I think he does an amazing job on the Hitmen broadcasts, though getting the gig covering the Flames would be quite a jump

Curle is excellent. His voice is clear and concise, it rises and falls with the action, and even on radio he is able to pause enough to let the moment breathe. He's been doing Hitmen games for seven or eight years now, he is exactly the sort of person Sportsnet should be hiring if they can't lure a bigger fish.

I know Kerr was a bit of a dork, but I always liked him cause of his love for the Flames. Everybody on this forum who is happy about this news should think what if they replace Kerr with an Oilers fan like Marc Spector( who I cannot STAND!!!!!)

I could give a #### if the new guy is an Oiler fan; I want someone who's good at play by play. Mark Spector is a writer.

I never minded Kerr's play by play, but I do agree that he is so much better doing more insightful analysis. Hopefully he comes back to the fan and they pay him some decent coin.
Maybe he can replace Eric Francis as the between period analyst on the TV broadcast as well.

If this is true, I would like to share my experience with Rob Kerr and Charlie Simmer:
- As part of a birthday present to me, I went to the March 14, 2014 match vs Dallas Stars, and as part of my bucket list to see the Flames play in every away building. I am at 14 of 29 FWIW.
- I bought my seats from StubHub and was in the centre ice club right in front of the broadcast booth. Usually the broadcast booth’s are in the bleeds’ but not in Dallas.
- While exiting my seats during the first intermission, I saw Charlie Simmer and asked him for a picture and he graciously accepted. Rob Kerr took our picture, and then Charlie Simmer took a pic with Rob Kerr and myself.
- I offered to buy them both a both a beer, since I had a Blue Moon(great beer) in my hand, but for obvious reasons, they both declined.
- Mr. Simmer visited the facilities , but Kerr and I chatted during the whole intermission.
- He(Kerr) is like “one of the boys”. I told him my story of why I was there, and we chatted about his favourite arenas, Feaster firing, the return on the Berra trade, draft pics, and life etc.. etc…
- Second intermission, Kerr and I chatted further, and then I asked for a memento of the game and without hesitation, he ran to broadcast booth and brought me his game notes from Sportsnet and the Dallas Stars. He had an extra copy, nonetheless, a kind gesture.
- Kerr and I both came to the conclusion, that the Flames would make it a one-goal affair during the second intermission because of their fight this season.
- After the game, and our comeback shootout win, I was taking pics of the arena and ice surface. Kerr threw a paper ball at my head to get my attention, and to celebrate the win. He then assisted to take a few pics of me with the arena/ice surface in the background.
If Rob Kerr and Charlie Simmer are replaced that is the decision of their superiors, but it is not because they have control over production quality, and more importantly, it is not because they do not care.

And Robb Kerr was a radio guy before he became the Flames play by play! I'm so sick and tired of the Kerr hate. I truly hope he returns on the radio. Every Flames fan should have heard the "wonderful things" Spector had to say about our Flames on Regina's radio program 'The Green Zone' on Monday. All I'm saying is that it's nice to have people who actually give a crap about the Flames doing play by play

Nobody cares what Mark Spector says. I want someone who is good at this job. Get that guy. He's out there. Find him.

I find it very difficult to listen to Curle. His excitement level goes from zero to sixty every single time the play enters either end. It's like the volume / intensity level spikes to 110% with just about every rush / shot on net.
With Peter Maher, there's those few odd times a game when you know a key scoring chance is happening because his voice is elevated and he breaks into an excited tone. With Curle, that happens every time the puck enters either end without fail. He has no filter.

I actually found him and Loubardias kind of endearing because of their dorkiness. Loubardias especially...I some do PBP for my NHL 13 games in a Loubardias-esc vocabulary, "doinks" off the post included.

While I feel bad for both Kerr and Simmer losing their jobs, put me on the Brad Curle bandwagon. If they are looking for local talent to move into that slot, he is your guy.

The RJ Broadhead suggestion could be a good one, he does have a good voice and does a good job of CHL and AHL games on Sportsnet.
I still would really like to see Ryan Pinder get the gig, maybe with Warrener as his colour guy? We know they like former players in that role and the 2 work together already so they would have some cohesion already.

Always loved Kerr's enthusiasm and insight, but he just wasn't suited for PBP. Really hope he lands back at the FAN.
Simmer seems like a quality person but he has been mailing it in for a while.
This had to happen.
Please 960, bring back Kerr

i say they hire JiriHrdina to do PBP and Bingo as colour analyst. That would make for "must see TV".
